About Us

itison is a privately funded company based in Glasgow, Scotland. Long before Facebook and Twitter, the people behind itison ran an online event service which allowed its members to receive invitations to a host of exciting events taking place in their city. This was really successful in 2003, but like anything else – it had to move with the times.

Several years and thousands of hours of development time later, itison was born in May 2009.

itison is not a social networking site or a place to find event listings, but a sophisticated service giving its members invitations to events that exactly match their interests, learning over a period of time their likes and dislikes.

With hundreds of events taking place every week in every city across the UK, and tens of thousands of people looking to enhance their social life (particularly in times of global recession!) – itison provides an easy to use service that grows audiences and fills guest lists – but ultimately, matches people to places.

We are currently in beta testing so please let us know if you spot anything we should know about (support@itison.com). We’ve got big plans and hope you join us for the journey and sign up to itison.

Where did the idea for itison come from?

How great would it be if you could create your own invitation, target it to thousands of your exact target audience and get a guaranteed guestlist before your event starts?

And on the flipside, how great would it be to live in a city and get access to events that truly match what you are interested in?

That’s what a lot of venues and people in our city thought. So in 2003, Oli Norman (the founder), built a system to do just this. 6 years later, we’ve tweaked the model and made this system as sophisticated as we possibly can, allowing every member to only receive invitations to events we know they’ll like, while the hosts get full events and a huge promotional platform.

Everybody wins with itison, which is why we think it’s such a good system (and we hope you agree).

Why should you join?

For lots of reasons. To find out about events happening in your city. To try new things. To meet new people. To check out what’s happening in other cities across the UK. But most of all, to make sure that you can access the guestlist for events that interest you.

No matter what age you are, if you want to try new experiences or just ensure your attendance at a host of events in your city (or another city, if you’re travelling) then there will be something on itison for you.

How does it work for event hosts?

Quite simply, there are hundreds of venues and event hosts – bars, restaurants, theatres, cinemas… – that hold events and want the right people to come along to them. By using itison, event hosts can target very specific groups of people to invite to their events, and itison provides them with a full guestlist and honest feedback following the event. And it’s much cheaper than pretty much anything else you can do to get people into and enjoying your event.

What happens if I attend a bad event?

If you attend an event that you don’t enjoy, make sure you fill in your online feedback following the event. This will affect the rating of the host venue, and you can choose to ‘block’ them from sending you any more invitations. If a host venue produces a bad event, everyone will know about it. And they don’t want that.
