Described as a “hidden gem” by the Evening Telegraph, the fantastic Yatai Izakaya is undoubtedly one of the Granite City’s most authentic and delicious dining spots. Specialising in creating unique and bold Japanese flavours, the restaurant is dedicated to serving up only the finest cuisine, with the head chef even training in Northern Japan for five years in order to master his technique.
And it’s not just the talent that has been honed to perfection; Yatai Izakaya grow their own produce year round in a polytunnel in rural Aberdeenshire and provide fresh fruit and veg from their own city allotment. Making the most of their surrounds, the kitchen team even go foraging through the spring and summer for seasonal ingredients which go on to feature on the restaurant’s eclectic menu. With such dedication behind the scenes, it’s no surprise Yatai Izakaya has been recommended in this year’s Michelin Guide and has received an incredible 9.5/10 rating from The Herald’s acclaimed food critic, Joanna Blythman!
