Saw this advert for the “Riverside Lodge” in Irvine on itison and can’t help laugh, but it’s not funny because based on the advert people will be deceived.

Claim no.1 “...the 4 star Riverside Lodge is situated in one of Scotland’s most picturesque areas...” ?

FACT: Whilst Ayrshire does indeed boast some spectacular scenery this hotel is next to the A78 bypass and a building site, offering no views of anything remotely pretty at all. You’ll need a car to get nice and far away from the hotel to enjoy it!

“...located on the outskirts of Irvine it is surrounded by beautiful countryside so if you fancy hitting the great outdoors...” ?

FACT: it’s a stone throw from the town centre, which is awash with junkies, next to the aforementioned A78 bypass. Across the bypass are large fairly deprived housing estates that no visitor would want to see. There is a nice walk along the burn to them from the hotel if that’s your kind of thing.

Oh, it is at least true there is a river nearby the Riverside Lodge. You just wouldn’t know it because you won’t see it from the hotel.

Shameful advertising. No wonder there are no exterior photos!

Thank you. It looks lovely inside and I’m sure the £2m renovation made a big difference and that it’s a nice hotel, it’s just those claims I highlighted are very misleading to people that don’t know the area.

Voucher is valid from Mon 1 Jul 2019 until Mon 30 Sept 2019; valid 7 days; subject to availability.

A supplementary charge of £20 per room is required for Friday and Saturday stays; payable directly to hotel.

Advance booking required. Voucher must be booked by Mon 9 Sept 2019 (we don’t want you to miss out!).

Email bookings only.

You risk forfeiting your voucher if you cancel within 48 hours of your booking.

Multiple voucher purchases permitted and can be used on consecutive nights; subject to availability.

Check-in 3pm, late check-out 1pm.

Option 2 includes 3 course meal from set menu. Menu is subject to change. Vegetarian and gluten/wheat/dairy free options are available. Please advise hotel when booking.

Includes 125ml glass of fizz on arrival. Alcohol cannot be replaced with a soft drink.

Double or twin standard room available. Please note, not all rooms have been refurbished as of yet.
