With today’s deal, you can head to the magnificent Scone Palace to explore. Having welcomed visitors since opening their doors to the public in 1966, the historic site will allow you to discover this amazing crowning palace of Scottish royalty: see the embroidery Mary Queen of Scots made whilst imprisoned, the desk where Mary Antoinette wrote letters before the guillotine, and the stunning painting of Dido Elizabeth Belle, Britain’s first black aristocrat.
Boasting a Gold Green Tourism Award and rated a 5* visitor attraction, a visit to Scone Palace is a great day out for all the family. Poised above the River Tay in the heart of Big Tree Country, the palace overlooks routes north to the Highlands and east through Strathmore to the coast, with the Grampian Mountains forming a distant backdrop. To keep the little ones entertained, there’s lots to see and do in the stunning open grounds, including plenty of animals to see like Highland cattle and peacocks, plus an adventure playground and Perthshire’s only maze!
“Lovely day out, lots of places to explore, staff were very helpful when we needed to accommodate some of our party who have mobility issues. Great fun in the play park and exploring the maze.”
“Beautiful palace, lots of interesting info about the rooms, their history, furniture and paintings as you walk around with staff on hand to help with extra info and answer questions. The history of the Stone of Destiny was very interesting. Café is nice.”
“We really enjoyed exploring the gardens. It was so tranquil when we were there. The Palace was nice to look through as well. I really wanted to see the portrait of Dido Belle. It was nice to see it in real life. And of course we had to have scones at Scone Palace and they were delicious."
