A family-run hotel for the past 10 years, The Fairburn Hotel is nestled in the pretty rural village of Mauchline, just a short 45 minute drive from Glasgow. Famed for its connections to Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns, Mauchline boasts the house the bard once lived in which still stands in the area, along with a Burns Monument close by. Make a day of it by visiting these lovely historic sites and wandering in the countryside before re-fuelling with two delicious courses and a glass of wine each.
- Chicken liver paté with melba toast and red onion chutney
- Black pudding bon bons in breadcrumbs and deep fried with a spicy tomato sauce
- Baked brie on a toasted ciabatta with cranberry sauce
- Bacon and mushroom linguini in a creamy white wine and garlic sauce, served with garlic bread
- Macaroni cheese with side salad and garlic bread
- Rabbie’s Burger: a homemade 8oz beef burger in a toasted brioche bun with a tattie scone, haggis fritter, baby gem lettuce and sliced tomato, served with coleslaw, onion rings and chips
