Come rain or sun, snow or shine, make this summertime sizzling hot and head to one of the biggest events on Glasgow’s summer calendar: the Merchant City Festival, running from 22-30 July.
- Amazing nine day event with street arts, music, theatre, food and drink, visual art, film, comedy, dance, fashion and design, and children and family activities
- Be dazzled by the colourful carnival procession, marking the start of the festival with performers and groups from all over the city – and the globe!
- Carnival procession celebrates the history and heritage of Glasgow as performers party from the Cathedral Precinct down High Street and shimmy along to George Square
- Dance along to the collaborative performance of the Encontro Street Band Festival and Massed Band Extravaganza, bringing together over 300 drummers, reed and brass instruments to form one mighty street band
- Watch some spectacular street theatre from SURGE, Scotland’s leading developer of street art
- Entertain the whole gang in the family zone, as artists run workshops showing you how to create sculptures and costumes of unicorns, Greek temples, the statue of liberty and so much more
- Discover the amazing cultural hub that is the Merchant City in the height of the Scottish summer
