About this event

Ok maybe you’re not that bad, but if you own a DSLR camera and could use a little bit of focus for your passion, we have the perfect opportunity. Take a day course in photography basics with freelance photographer Carla Speight at Aberrant Perspectives; learn how to shoot in manual mode and take that perfect shot in Manchester’s Beehive Lofts. Oh snap!

  • Day course in DSLR photography basics for one
  • Instructed by freelance photographer Carla Speight who set up her own business, Aberrant Perspectives
  • Speight became a freelance photographer after she was made redundant five years ago and has since covered news sources for press and commercial photography
  • Her portfolio boasts candid shots of celebrities including Noel Gallagher, Gemma Atkinson and Shaun Ryder
  • Starting at Manchester’s Beehive Lofts, you’ll be taught the technical and creative skills required to take your DSLR photography to the next level
  • Learn how to operate manual mode, what the exposure triangle is, composition techniques, how to use aperture and shutter speed creatively and much more
  • After lunch, you’ll recap on what you’ve learned so far and have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have
  • Then, you’ll be taking a photography walk round some picturesque sites in Manchester to help put your news skills into practice on the job
  • At the end of the day, take away a cheat sheet to help further your photography practice with what you’ve learned from the course
  • Course dates available in January and February
