A wonderful building and grounds . We loved the Castle ,all the original features just add to it's charm ,and we had a lovely walk in the grounds .The food was absolutely delicious ,and the staff all very helpful and friendly. We stayed in The Stables ,very pretty cosy room ,only downside was the plumbing was not very efficient ( maybe due to the age of the building ) We will definitely be back and might treat ourselves to a room in the castle next time .

What a great place to stay although you have to be a bit short to fit under the rafters in our room! All the staff were wonderful especially the dining room staff. Hope to be back soon !

It was nice and central for getting about. Food in the dining room was OK but not much choice. A bit of walking to get to the dining room and the bar.

The castle itself is amazing and the bar and restaurant were lovely - dinner in Knights restaurant was absolutely amazing as was breakfast the next morning HOWEVER the rooms have a lot to answer to. The first room we were allocated was freezing cold, dated and tired looking and not especially clean - the carpet especially was not clean and was covered in hair. For a 4 star hotel there were no dlippers or dressing gowns in the room and I was surprised to learn the heating was on a timer and only came on at certain times with no additional heater in the room. We asked to change rooms and we thought we might get upgraded but far from an upgrade we were allocated a very small room which was also tired and dated and again not very clean.
The Staff are lovely and Knights restaurant was amazing but the two rooms that I saw were awful.

The castle was spectacular, the bed was so comfy. Beautiful historic building. As a history lover it was ideal but the best part was the food. I got the roast duck and I have to say was cooked to perfection. Loved the drinks .i haven’t even mentioned the breakfast. Omg, food for any taste. Really really enjoyed my stay. The price for drinks and dinner might be a bit expensive but have to say worth it. It’s the perfect treat.

We booked one night with dinner,Prosecco and
breakfast. The courtyard bedrooms were small but comfortable and very close to the entrance.
All staff were very friendly and the food excellent.
The dining room for dinner and breakfast is very atmospheric and charming as is the whole of the castle. We were very impressed with the castle and how it had retained many original features .
