We appreciate its a very old building , but our room window was running with condensation and dripping on windowsill. Curtains were lovely at first glance but when closed for the night were mouldy and stained. Toilet seat was loose and reported to housekeeping.
Dinner was really lovely and staff ( a particular mention for Imogen who was a complete pleasure to meet ) were helpful.
Grounds were beautiful and I'd love to see them in Summer

Hotel was very nice and room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent. Food high quality though quite expensive.

A reasonable sized swimming pool so was a blue to enjoy this. Didn’t use the gym but limited equipment there. The room was very comfortable.

As I say above, the food was superb, staff lovely and very helpful, the building and grounds were beautiful though the rooms were perhaps a wee bit dated. But overall, the lack of atmosphere and somewhere which could be described as the 'heart' of the hotel was missing, and so it all felt a bit flat which was a real shame. Great attention at checkin (possibly too much tbh) and the note under the door every day was great, the restaurant and staff all lovely - but after we left the restaurant in the evening it felt like we were a bit abandoned. One member of staff at the bar and doing drinks for the restaurant too meant the staff there were overwhelmed and it's location seemed strange - little possibility for afternoon or after dinner drinks.
