Ellen Kent's Aida

  • Opera International's award-winning Ellen Kent Production featuring the Ukrainian Opera & Ballet Theatre Kyiv, with international soloists, highly-praised chorus and full orchestra
  • Aida, the grandest of all Ellen Kent’s operas, returns to the UK with a stunning new traditional production, boasting an impressive set built by Set-Up Scenery in the UK, who also build sets for the Royal Opera Covent Garden
  • The splendour of Egypt is set against the grandeur of the Coliseum of Rome and is influenced by the ancient Greek dramas of Euripides and symbolises the powerful religious hold of the priests of Egypt
  • This tragic story of war, jealousy and revenge at whose heart is the doomed love of the beautiful Ethiopian slave girl, Aida, and the Egyptian hero, Radames, is brought to life in a production set against one of the greatest pieces of music Verdi ever wrote

  • Absolutely beautiful performance

    Reviewed on

I almost never visit the theatre due to the cost, however, I was delighted to see the opportunity to attend Madama Butterfly pop up on Itison. A truly glorious evening, even though I left a little bit heartbroken.

  • Excellent performance of Carmen.

    Reviewed on

Well performed by the Ukranian Opera and Ballet supported by a very professional thirty piece orchestra. The performance was sung in French with English sub titles. If there was to be one fault the sub titles were too far up and a bit difficult to read from where we sat at the side of the auditorium. The singers and dancers all performed to the best of professional standards. A touching end to the night was the playing of the Ukraine National Anthem.
