Warning - NO lift! We are in our 80’s and were put on the top floor after paying for an upgrade!
The food was excellent both for breakfast and dinner.

Very impressed by kitchen garden and the range of excellent food grown within the hotel grounds. Given this and given the hotel’s commitment nutritious and delicious home grown produce it was surprising not to see any Vegan options on the menu. I am sure that if put to the test the hotel gardeners and chefs would have collaborated to produce some excellent vegan choices. However putting such options on the menu as routine would evidence the hotel’s commitment to sustainability as well as encouraging a wider range of clientele. While my wife and I are not vegan (though we try and reduce our meat and dairy intake) our daughters are, so we would tend not to bring them to a hotel where vegan cuisine is an afterthought.

The room was in the gate house and it was lovely , despite e-mailing to say we would be slightly early and them confirming that they would ask housekeeping to get the room ready an hour earlier it was not ready. The room was large , the only complain was that the shower flooded the floor.
The breakfast has been cut back since last there and was a wee bit slow.
The main meal at dinner was very small I ordered fish and the size of this was tinny not even a fillet and very few vegetables , the sauce that came with it I was given some out of the dish and the rest was taken away but the waitress , no choice .
Although still a good break it was not the standard of dinning I had previously experienced.
