Clachan Cottage Hotel was exactly as we expected. We had a spacious room with Loch view. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the restaurant/ bar food all good. An ideal place for those looking to waterski, paddle board, canoe etc

Set in a beautiful spot on Loch Earn the Hotel looked a little tired and neglected from the outside. We were warmly welcomed and allocated room 15 a Loch view room The room was pleasantly furnished and decorated. The en suite was a little small but acceptable. The shower door was hanging off but was easily rehung onto runners. Tea and coffeee were in room with kettle. The view from the room was lovely. We asked in bar which we sampled before check in , if we needed to book for dinner. We were advised that it was not necessary. prices in the bar were reasonable and the staff were friendly. The signage outside shows the hotel to have a bar /bistro/ cafe/restaurant.It appears although there is a small restaurant it did not appear to be being used. The menu at dinner was quite extensive and a blackboard displayed "Specials" The food we received was fine and perfectly edible though nothing fancy. It seemed food was served on a limited time basis1200 to 2.45 then 17.00 to 1945 . The bar where we ate was busy with drinkers and diners(dogs are welcome) On retiring later to our room we found the tv which was little awkward to work had fairly limited channels. Next morning breakfast (continental) was available on the first floor restaurant/breakfast room. A fairly extensive range of bread rolls cerials fruit and fruit juices were self service. No Scottish cooked breakfast on offer. On day 2 of our stay we headed out to tour the area weather was a bit inclement so scenery not seen to its best advantage.Having eaten something substantial at lunchtime we did not intend to dine at the \Hotel for dinner. This turned out to be fortunate as they were not serving any food on the Monday!! Enquiries from visiting travellers were simply told sorry NO Food .While having a drink in the bar we could smell food in the air only to discover it was a member of the scarce staff enjoying a hamburger in the background. When we went out earlier that day my wife tried to hand key into reception. The lady told her to hold onto it in case we were back later and there was no receptionist on. There seemed to be a distinct lack of staff in the Hotel during our stay. When we left after breakfast the next morning once again the reception was closed up and our key was left on the counter outside glass partition. All in all we had a pleasant stay with the indicated few minor problems. The location of the Hotel is beautiful and this could be a wonderfull retreat for travellers. It may be that it is still suffering post covid hangover.

I bought my voucher as a gift. It was advertised as dog friendly rooms. I asked for a twin room, and upon arrival I found out there was only I dog friendly room and it had a double bed in. The couldn’t give me another mattress or alternative to sleep on, and no other rooms were available. This did put a dampener on things for my mum, as we then had to share for the duration. I wouldn’t have bought my voucher had I known this in advance. The description, didn’t match the reality. Disappointing…

A lovely setting and some great bones in the building but it's evident there some major investment needed to exploit the full potential.
There were some strange odours which may be simple poor ventilation of damp.
By and large the hotel staff were helpful.
Breakfast was nothing to write home about.
Description of put room as a garden view was stretching in the extreme.

Food and drink in the bar was excellent.
Slept well. Lochview room decor lovely. Only negative was the breakfast. Poor continental offering. Not asked if we would like any hot food, this was disappointing.
