We enjoyed our three night ls stay at Slaley Hall. The staff we so accommodating especially in the restaurant as I have a food allergy. The only negative was no pork on the day we chose it and no ham starter on the day we asked for that. There wasn’t any lamb on the menu which is a favourite of my husbands but that’s just personal preference. The spa was lovely and clean. The rooms were comfortable and cleaned everyday. We’d definitely go back.

I purchased a 2 day stay at this resort with dinner included and was looking forward to our stay here however unfortunately and unexpectedly 3 days prior to arrival I was admitted to hospital so my partner phoned to explain we couldn't attend and asked if we could postpone it, he was advised we needed to give an alternative date and it could only be changed once so he said we would call back to rearrange. I then required emergency surgery & 2 weeks later I have been told I have cancer, require further surgery in a couple of weeks followed by chemotherapy. When Slaley Hall called me back to rearrange my booking I explained the situation and said I wasn't fit to travel just now & although I understood that the deal was to be used within the next 4 weeks these were exceptional circumstances and would it be possible to give us an extension to the time period and allow us rebook at a later date to be advised "sorry we can't do that, after all the purchase is nonrefundable".
I wasn't asking for a refund or for anything additional to the purchase I was simply asking if they could honour the purchase for later in the year given my circumstances but unfortunately they have shown no empathy or compassion for my situation. I therefore unfortunately cannot say that my experience with Slaley Hall has been pleasant nor would I recommend them if this is an example of the customer care they provide.

We were served cold soup at lunchtime
Also we ordered chicken & mushroom soup and the cold soup was leek & potato which wasn’t even on the menu
It tasted like a cupasoup!!
The cutlery was dirty everytime we sat down to eat anywhere as were the glasses Lipstick on them!
Tables were not cleared away So used plates glasses etc were lying around everywhere
Food would be served in the bar but no cutlery with Had to keep asking for cutlery, butter, pepper etc
Breakfast was a disaster
No one ensuring the buffet was full of food so there was a huge queue of people waiting for food
No hot water to make a cup of tea
No one cleaning down the tables after someone had finished
Spotted one member of staff using his hand to brush crumbs off a table before he sat a couple at it

The hotel rooms need updated.
The restaurant was over priced, we spent £80 on top of our meal allowance.
The spa was incredibly rundown and not very clean. We had a nightmare drunken neighbour (not the hotel's fault) but they did not deal with it in a timely manner.
I would not recommend this deal.

I enjoyed the hotel very much but it was really busy. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The swimming pool was a bit cool needs to be heated more.

We were made very welcome at Slayley Hall. Room was comfortable and clean. Nice ambiance in the hotel. Enjoyed the spa facilities. Evening meals were good. Breakfast was ok. All in all a relaxing couple of days

Not good value for money. Room was tired and needed upgraded. Massage was good but no relaxation room afterwards, just left in the stairwell with clothes and wearing robe where people descended to use the pool or gym.
Few issues at breakfast with coffee machine not working, plates too hot, plates soaking wet and not dried so couldn’t use for toast. Took ages to get served at lounge and about 40 minutes for food to arrive. Overall very disappointing experience for the money and the fact I travelled 3 hours each way to have a relaxing time.

Early fire alarm not great. No staff available to advise guests of evacuation procedures. Concerning.
