If you wanted a castle room you needed to ask for it. We were in a modern room with poor insulation - you could hear the people talking next door. However just up the road is Dunrobin castle. Well worth a visit.

Although the weather was dreadful the stay at Dornoch Castle hotel was a success with a lovely warm log fire and cosy environment in the whiskey bar to share a relaxing day with friends. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and dining at the hotel was excellent. Thank you

This was our seventh stay at the Dornoch Castle Hotel. My son and I love the place, hence we keep returning. We had our usual favourite room, we relaxed in the wonderful, cosy bar, and we generally enjoyed our visit, but I must mention the breakfast which was a huge disappointment. Previously it was a full Scottish breakfast, plus porridge, etc. Now, it is 99% cold continental food which is fine if you're dining on a sunny morning in Spain, but not on a freezing cold March morning in the north of Scotland, with sleet and a horizontal gale outside. I've written to the hotel separately about this issue. I hope they are able to return to a full breakfast service in the future.

Lovely building and room was clean and modern.
Staff were excellent
Heating in room was turned off overnight and room got cold. There were no additional blankets in room.
Breakfast was a big turn off. All that was on offer was a basic Continental selection - nothing hot! Didn’t even bother with breakfast on 2nd morning.

We were very well looked after by the friendly, courteous and professional staff. Our upgraded (garden) room was spacious, well appointed with a comfortable seating area and a modern refurbished bathroom. It fulfilled our three main criteria when we stay anywhere - perfectly clean, cosy and a very comfortable bed. Nice touches were the g&t “on arrival” but in fact the vouchers (for 2) could be used at any time (pre-dinner in our case). We opted for a third night stay and were given a second voucher. Gin and mixer of choice. Another nice touch was the little decanter of sherry in our room on arrival, and topped up every day - lovely when coming in from chilly weather. Met some really interesting people around the roaring lot fire in the beautiful bar, all of whom seemed to be enjoying the Dornoch Castle as much as we did.

Really enjoyed our break. It lived up to all we expected.

Booked an evening meal for the first night. My meal was cold I think they had made mine first then made fish and chips for my husband. His meal was piping hot . Wardrobe was a small open recess only enough room for six hangers.

Our car broke down prior to departure and there was very bad flooding that day. Had tp borrow a family members car and get added to their insurance.
Could not contact itison to cancel so eventually arrived late and had to depart early in the morning in case we got stranded. There was no way of contacting itison due to it being a Saturday. No out of hours contact number and no one to contact.
Not the hotels fault in any way
