A great stop off point on our way to Orkney. Lovely country house hotel with excellent food, in particular local seafood. Friendly experienced staff who were always helpful. Good sized room with all you need for a restful break. A gem in the far north of Scotland.

The experience was 1st class. We had no idea what to expect but it was all very good. Food and service were exemplary. There was nothing negative about the whole experience, the food was fantastic, especially the breakfast. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed, we will definitely return, it is top class.

Whilst the hotel was a bit quirky with lots of corridors and stairs - it reminded me of a shooting lodge in Perthshire where my Grandmother was Housekeeper, it was very comfortable. Staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient!! Our evening meal was delicious, plenty choice on menu and beautifully cooked and presented!! Early breakfast (7am) was an added bonus as we had to catch an earlier ferry than originally planned due to worsening weather conditions, again plenty of choices, lovely food served by pleat staff!!!

Lovely setting by the river. Warm welcome and our room upstairs was very spacious (Brimside).. Had to pay for an upgrade but well worth it. Huge bathroom with steel roll-top bath and large shower. Very comfortable bed and two armchairs which had seen better days. Side table was a bit rough but the overall surroundings made up for it.
Very handsome whisky bar and good range of bottled beers on offer. Canapés offered while you peruse the menu. Food in the dining room was delicious though it did not change for the second night. Three courses with coffee and petits fours very good value at £65 but not everybody wants all three courses.
Breakfast in the conservatory was excellent with good range of options. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would definitely go back and would recommend it for a special visit.
