lovely relaxing stay, but would be nice if hotel offered some entertainment

Having been before we knew what to expect. The overnight stay was excellent in every way. Staff, food and the room with a sea view were all very good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an excellent short break.

After an initial problem when making the booking the Hotel staff pulled out all the stops to ensure that we enjoyed an excellent visit with our Itison voucher. Nicola, at reception already had all of our details to hand and the check-in process was swift and efficient. The room that we were allocated was fantastic and had all of the extras that you would expect in a quality hotel. The meals (dinner and breakfast) were well served with a lovely list of items available on both menus. The added benefit of the leisure facilities was the icing on the cake as it gave us the opportunity to relax and enjoy our holiday in style. The only negative comment that I would make is that the break needed to be booked a full 2 months or more before the expiry date of the visit. Could the "must be booked by" date not be moved back to ensure that a suitable date can be identified? Thank you very much Itison and Fairfield House Hotel for a lovely break.

We have been to the Fairfield for a pre Christmas overnight for 3 years running now, this time travelling with friends. We were surprised at check in to have a free upgrade to the Carnegie suite (stayed there last year) and our friends were given the Eglinton rooms. We love the warm welcome and being familiar with Ayr, we didn't spend all day in the hotel. Within easy walking distance of the shops and other pubs and eateries if you're not eating at the hotel. We had a 2 course dinner with our voucher and chose easily off the Festive menu. Our friends are both vegetarian and had choices for their tastes too. Bang bang chicken, braised rump steak with haggis and peppercorn sauce and treated myself to the old fashioned jam Roly poly and custard for dessert. All went down very well. I've never had a bad meal here. Bed was enormous! And breakfast the next morning offered plenty of buffet options with a menu of cooked options available too. Worth mentioning that the staff are very friendly and helpful especially Christine on reception and Kyle on the bar. All 4 of us enjoyed our break and we'll definitely be back again.

The Shower need a safety rail in it although there is a mat somebody could still slip and as the entry door opened outwards anybody falling could hit there head on the heated towel rail.
