This was a return visit for me and my partner, booked on the back of a great experience with good food and service. The service we received during our most recent visit was good with absolutely no complaints or concerns in that department. The food however was a major let down. We both ordered katsu chicken burgers which turned out to be extremely dry, chewy and unpalatable. The chicken tasted like it had sat underneath a heat lamp for hours, which made the burgers extremely difficult to eat. After the first bite we opened up the burgers to try and see what had went so wrong. The burger it's self was hard and dry and we had to look closely to find any evidence of katsu sauce or condiment being used at any stage of the preparation. This is the sort of experience we come to expect, almost comically from one of the many chain burger and beer establishments out there and it came as a disappointing surprise to find that we were experiencing this at st judes. Due to the excellent service from staff my partner was reluctant to feed this back and reluctantly discouraged me from providing similar feedback, the level of service from the gentleman who served our table was as such that we prioritised leaving a tip before we proceeded to settle the bill, this service sadly was the only highlight of our visit. This has discouraged us from returning to st Jude's or making any recommendations to visit, as the food is an integral part of the visit for most customers.
