Quite disappointed with the deal. Room and decor 'tired'. Could do witha good makeover. Menu limited but the food was good enough. Saving graces were the hotel's location and the staff friendliness. Had been there many times years ago. Will not be in a hurry back, if at all. A great pity really as it used to be a great place to go for something like a celebration meal.

We stayed for 2 nights mid-week. Was a bit apprehensive after some of the reviews, however we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
It was a bit odd as there were not many guests and very few staff. One staff member, Janie seemed to be there most of the time and appeared to do everything except cook. When Janie wasn't there, there were no staff, the front door was locked (you got a key.) She was very friendly, helpful and professional, despite having much to deal with. There were a couple of issues - non delivery of food and a plumbing emergency which closed the kitchen, but she dealt with this professionally and overcame the problems despite some irate guests.
The food we did get was fabulous! Dinner was delicious. As was the cooked breakfast, the best Eggs Benedict I've ever eaten, and my partner said black pudding was the best he's ever had.
The hotel grounds could do with tidying up a bit but the hotel itself was clean and tidy. The reception was not always manned, there were no staff there overnight but this didn't bother us at all. The room was nice enough, comfortable with a good shower and plenty of hot water. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back.

Over and above my itison voucher, had to settle for 2 Earlynbird Dinners and a bottle of house wine. Charge was 2 x £14.95 for the meals and £25.00 for the house red wine, which I found a bit steep. There was also a 10% Service Charge added which was not explained to me. I only found this out when I queeried the ammount today via a telephone

We had a lovely room at The Rocks. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The meals were very good and there was a great choice at breakfast. It was better than I expected especially being a two star hotel. Tv , bottled water and tea and coffee in our room. It’s on part of the John muir way so plenty of opportunities to walk. The weather was good too which was a bonus too!

2 couples staying. Our friends were put in R12 which was dirty, no storage, sink was in bedroom not bathroom. Room was really poor , they were moved, room was slightly better. Our room was okay, just. 2 televisions one on unit which didn’t work, small one on wall next to it which worked. Shower over bath didn’t work. Bed should’ve had drawers underneath but they were missing therefore a gap. Stair carpet to the rooms was badly stained in places. Checked in at 3 bar didn’t open til 5. Dinner first night was an okay standard as was breakfast. First morning
at breakfast they were very short staffed. The downstairs areas of the hotel were very nice (although pool table top was torn). Staff were friendly and helpful. This hotel could be lovely as it is in a good location but it needs a fair bit of work done especially in the rooms.

Staff were friendly and helpful - though, at times there didn't seem to be enough of them, resulting in basic items having to be requested rather than automatically provided.
Accomodation was fine. Perhaps more attention to detail would be useful. Our room was comfortable.
We loved the setting with sea walks just outside the door of the hotel.
