Myself and one of my friends came here yesterday for afternoon tea. It was lovely and I got a good gluten free selection. Staff were very attentive. The only negative thing was my friend doesn’t drink tea or coffee so ordered a lemonade but then got charged £2.95. We queried this to be told if she ordered Pepsi or Diet Pepsi it would’ve been included with the afternoon tea. No one had mentioned this.
Other than that we had a good afternoon.

The afternoon tea was very good. The staff were excellent - attentive but not obtrusive. Glorious weather therefore we were able to sit out on the roof terrace with our drinks.

Our experience at The Carlton George Hotel for afternoon tea was thoroughly enjoyable, surpassing expectations with its delightful selection of treats and the charming ambiance, which catered perfectly to our kids, who also thoroughly enjoyed it; this wasn't our first visit and it certainly won't be our last.

I booked afternoon tea for a celebration for my sister's retirement. They catered for gluten free request very well indeed. Food superb and service and attention from the staff was first class. We will be back.

Nice area with views over the rooftops. Food was ok but not excellent. Not enough savoury items. Scones were nice, cakes were ok. Glass of fizz was nice. Good value when using the itison voucher but I would have been disappointed if I had paid the full amount for this afternoon tea.

The staff could not have been nicer and the service was great but as I don't eat eggs or fish, this was the result ......
We never got any brioche rolls or savoury wraps.
We got 2 cheese savoury sandwiches, 2 ham sandwiches, 2 tomatoe salad sandwiches and it was so appealing I can't remember what the 4th option was, all came as one brown and one white sandwich. What if we had both wanted brown bread!
Sausage rolls were not very nice and the scones were so small and hard.
Too many cakes, we had a choice of about 4/5 small bite size. Why not just offer a choice of one normal size cake?
Coffee was great and as I said so were the staff and the service.
Would I go back - no. Especially if I was paying full price of £23 it's not worth it.
