Only 2 tables occupied when we arrived at 3.30pm. 1st course not served till 4.07pm. One of the starters was luke warm, when we told the waitress, she said that was how it was served. Main course arrived at 4.27pm. Lamb was raw, was no where near medium to rare, the lamb was sent back. Venison looked fantastic but everything served with it was cold. Asked to see the Manager who never appeared. I had to get up from the table again to get staff attention. Restaurant was still extremely quiet. The two staff were standing behind the bar. The Manager kept insisting that everyrhing was their standard. "The Venison should be 53 degrees" I explained again that everything was cold. She brought the Lamb back 10 minutes after it went back to the kitchen. By this time it was nearly 5pm. We decided at that point that this experience was not going to get any better, therefore I told the staff we would leaving having not been able to eat cold food. The Manager gave us our drinks on the house. I explained I wanted the voucher refunded which she informed me I would have to take up with Itison.

We had a delicious meal at Monteiths. Great menu with lots to choose from.
The restaurant was busy so we had a long wait for our meal to arrive.
We have bought another voucher, so I think that speaks for itself!!

We went to Monteiths for lunch before attending a show at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Although the restaurant was quiet, we had a lovely experience. The staff were attentive and friendly and had time to chat with us.
The food was truly amazing. I had a haggis starter. It was nicely presented and perfectly cooked. Full of flavour and not too spicy. My main course was pork belly. I often go for pork belly, but this was something special. Not the usual slab, but more like a steak. The texture, the flavour, wonderful. The best I have ever had.
Monteiths is an experience not to be missed.
