Enjoyed our stay, we were given a free room upgrade to a lovely suite which was very much appreciated. Staff are all very friendly too, the only downside was on both nights we stayed, there was choices on the menu that we asked for no longer available.
We had a wonderful stay at the Muthu Newton hotel. All staff were so friendly and welcoming.

Dinner and breakfast had good range of choices and local produce and was cooked well. Lovely outlook from our room, which was very clean. Definitely would recommend and would stay again. Beautiful part of Scotland and within walking distance of the town and beach.

Arrived at the hotel and were surprised at the grandeur of the building exterior and interior. Checked in quickly and easily and took cases to our room. We had booked crfeam tea so went straight down to the bar. Nobody there to greet us and waited, and waited. Eventually somebody came to our table. Advised we had booked cream tea and shortly afterwards were served with bucks fizz and scone, cream and jam etc. We received the evening dinner menu from reception which we took to our room to look over and choose what we wanted. When we went to the restaurant in the evening, we were presented with a slightly different menu with our choices not on there. The main course chicken I had was tough, part of the meal very hot and part luke warm. For dessert we were advised they did not have the vanila icecream which went with a few of the dishes. I chose the apple crumble with custard which was awful, large pieces of hard apple and a paper thin layer of crumble.
The server did not ask us if the food was alright or why I left most of my meal and dessert. When we went to our room the noise was awful and the receptionist eventually found out it was coming from the other restauarant which had a group eating. We were moved to a much quieter room on a different floor but was very inconvenient unpacking, packing and unpacking again etc. We did not get much of an apology either. The bedroom and bathroom were very nice but our experience overall was not good. Breakfast was average. Service was not helpful or friendly.

Easy to find, friendly staff and clean and comfortable room. We had dinner on first night which was excellent, after a cream tea and Prosecco on arrival. There is a lift, which is a bonus in hotels in older buildings. The dining room was a bit cold with draughty windows. Breakfast was very good, served in a different room which was very nice. The bar area is stylish and comfortable. I would say the hotel entrance is confusing if you are walking from one side of the building. The main reception door is hidden from view from one direction, so it would help if there were better signage. There is a ramp from car park to main door, and automatic doors. I would be happy to visit again.

Beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings. Room was really lovely and so comfortable. Reception and breakfast staff extremely helpful & friendly. Only complaint was with the evening meal. Lentil soup didn’t taste like any lentil soup I’ve ever had, didn’t enjoy it. Asked for a small portion of chips with my fish, around 10. I’ve never seen so many chips on a plate in all my life, covered the whole plate piled up, and fish sat on top. So off putting when I have a poor appetite as it is. My wife’s starter & main wasn’t anything special. However, The desserts were lovely. Didn’t get our first choice on the menu as told they sold out! Would return to the hotel for a stay, but probably not eat there.
It was a lovely break, but not happy with having to pay an extra £10 per night. This was well hidden in the small print.

Apart from having to pay extra £10 per night it was a lovely break. We were given an upgrade to the Charlie Chaplin. Dinner and breakfast was good.

Can't fault the place. A little dated and tiered in places, nice big room. Evening meal and breakfast was good.
