Great value Hotel with Friendly, Helpful Staff!

Spent 2 nights with my wife in the the Hotel, the staff were all friendly, courteous and helpful.
The Hotel allows you to drop off your luggage if you arrive before the 1500 check-in time. We arrived at 1245 and our room was ready early which was a bonus.
We stayed in a standard room on a deal which included 2 nights bed and breakfast.
The room was a decent size clean and warm which was a bonus as it was cold outside.
The room was on the first floor and overlooked the street, there was a bit of traffic noise but not that bad and didn't really bother us.
The room had tea and coffee making facilities and had bottled water and some nice shortbread.
Toilet was clean with good quality towels, shampoo, soap and a great shower.
Breakfast was served in the dining room on the ground floor and although quite small the choice of 3 breakfast times meant all guests were served quickly on arrival.
Hot beverages included a choice from freshly brewed ground coffee, breakfast, herbal or fruit tea and fresh fruit juice & smoothies.
There was a good selection of cereals, yoghurts & fruits, toast, pastries and homemade preserves – all freshly prepared.
Hot food was made to order from a small menu but included a really good choice of quality food we had toasted wholemeal bread topped with a poached egg, bacon, tomatoes and rocket which was really nice with a perfectly cooked poached egg and bacon, other choices of smashed Avocado on toast, pancakes in syrup, porridge etc. was not what I was expecting from a Budget Hotel.
The Hotel must be commended for providing a freshly cooked to order quirky choice of hot breakfast and something a bit different from your usual full Scottish breakfast.
The Hotel has a small bar with a choice of Whiskies, Gins, wine and Beer etc. at reasonable prices.
Although the Hotel doesn't have dedicated Parking there are numerous car parks a short walk away, if you don't want to take your car the Hotel is only 5mins walk away from the main Train, Bus and Ferry terminals, with plenty of buses and trains to major cities like Glasgow, Edinburgh etc. within reasonable travelling distance.
There is also a good local bus service to take you to various places of interest within the Oban area.
CalMac Ferries also operates regular services from Oban to the Scottish Islands, with key routes to Craignure (Mull), Castlebay (Barra), Coll, Tiree, Colonsay, and Lismore. The main crossing to Craignure runs up to 9 times daily, taking roughly 50 minutes, making it a primary route for accessing Mull and Iona.
There are some good walking routes within the Oban area and plenty of restaurants, cafes, and places of interest 5 mins walk away within the town centre and beyond.
The price I paid for this 2 night deal for 2, was fantastic value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Hotel to family and friends as the food, facilities
and hard working friendly and welcoming staff made for a really enjoyable 2 night stay in Oban despite the weather. Well done Ranald Hotel! as Arnold Schwarzenegger would say "I'll be back"

Great apartments

First time staying at The Ranald Apartments, having stayed at the hotel on 3 previous occasions. The Apartments didn't disappoint. They have a very well fitted kitchen with everything you could need. The lounge area is very comfortable. There's very comfortable bed and plenty of storage.
The only downside was it was the 3rd floor and it has no lift, so if stairs are an issue it would be better asking when booking for a lower floor.
Would I recommend absolutely
Fabulous stay

We have just returned from our 3 night stay at the Ranald Apartments in Oban. This was our second time at the apartments and they did not disappoint.
The apartments are warm and clean (thank you Lucy) and have everything you need in the way of kitchen appliances and equipment for a self catering stay more so than some bigger self catering houses we have used in the past. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate sachets, salt and pepper and cooking oil plus kitchen roll and cleaning cloths all supplied which a lot of places expect you to bring .
The bed is really comfortable and the towels are big and fluffy. There is also an iron and ironing board, an hairdryer and a fan should you need it.
Value for money is excellent especially using our Itison voucher. The staff are welcoming and friendly and we would recommend these apartments 100% and we will definitely be back.
Our third time at the Ranald Apartments. Enjoyed our stay .

Enjoyed our stay at the Ranald Apartments for the third time. Apartment was nice but being senior citizens we struggled with the stairs as we were on the second floor this time. Lots and lots of stairs and no lift.
Our apartment was at the back this time and the view wasn't very pleasant.
Although the apartment was clean with clean bedding and towels. We had only one hand towel for two people for three days. The bath sheets were fine. Soft and fluffy.
There were crumbs in the grill tray left from the previous guest. The other oven tray was not clean. We didn't use either of them but ate out for our main meals.
It’s a great apartment. Quite a few stairs to get up to the first floor but once you’re there it’s all on one level.

I knew about the stairs before we went so were ready for them. It wouldn’t put me off going again and I definitely will. Very comfortable bed, nice kitchen with everything you need.
