The restaurant has such a lovely atmosphere and the staff offer just the perfect amount of attention to make the six course menu flow! The food was so fresh and tasty - very imaginative. We had a great night! We loved the mushroom “farm” downstairs too.

As usual, the food was well prepared and beautifully presented. The service was exceptional. It is our favourite place to go for a decent meal. We have yet to be disappointed.

We recently dined at The Gannet in Finnieston for a birthday celebration, opting for the six-course tasting menu. On arrival, the maître d’ was courteous, though the welcome felt a touch reserved rather than warmly inviting. The dining room offered a pleasant ambiance - stylish and relaxed - though not quite aligned with what one might expect from a fine dining establishment in terms of atmosphere.
Service throughout the evening was attentive, with each course thoughtfully introduced. However, there were moments when the pacing felt slightly rushed, as if the rhythm of the meal was being hurried along. The dishes were beautifully presented, showcasing clear attention to detail in plating. That said, the flavours across the menu, while refined, lacked distinction or a sense of culinary boldness. None of us are fine dining purists, yet we found ourselves wishing for a bit more depth or creativity on the palate.
The team made a thoughtful effort to acknowledge the occasion with a few kind touches, which we genuinely appreciated. Unfortunately, a complimentary cocktail included with our voucher was overlooked and only brought to the table after we inquired at the end of the meal - a minor oversight, but one that slightly took away from the overall experience.
In summary, The Gannet is certainly a pleasant venue with polished service and an attractive menu concept. However, at a full price of over £100 per person, we found it difficult to justify the cost relative to the culinary experience delivered. As a one-off occasion - particularly if you enjoy fish, which featured in four of the six courses - it offers a tasteful evening out, though perhaps not one we’d rush to repeat.

Genuinley a great dining experiance. A couple of the dishes were ones that I would normally never order and they were excellent. The staff were brilliant and very knowledgeable about the dishes they were serving. The resturant itself was class, lovely place to have a meal.

Having dined at the Gannet many times over the years we take it as a given that the food will be exceptional. As it was on this latest occasion. It always looks, smells and tastes delicious. But it’s not just about the food of course. The service, the general atmosphere, the way diners are welcomed , the background music all play a part in creating a memorable dining experience. The young woman in charge of service dealt with everything professionally and impeccably. A very safe pair of hands. We are looking forward to our next visit for the anniversary 6 course tasting menu.

Service was amazing and so was food and drink quality. However, if you and your friends are still hungry after 5 course expensive meal, it is not a good sign.
