Good value for a summer break
Reviewed on
2 night stay was very pleasant. Coylumbridge hotel has seen better days but value for money, especially in the summer, is great.
Dog friendly and easy to get breakfast and have it outside the restaurant. Rooms are fine, especially the ones that have be renovated.
Hotel is busy and the staff do their best to keep everything going at check-in and breakfast.
Relaxing stay

I’ve had two enjoyable stays at this hotel. Rooms are perfect, big enough and comfortable beds. The breakfast however could be better, the coffee doesn’t taste great and the cooked breakfast was either overcooked or not enough out for guests. It is and ideal hotel for our hikes.
Enjoyable & relaxing

The check in procedure does not give a good 1st impression. Did not open until 3.05pm with only 1 receptionist & a long queue, we were 4th in line & had to wait 15 mins. We observed a couple of staff members hovering in background whe were reluctant to assist.
Despite our initial frustration we were pleasantly surprised at the comfort of the spacious bedroom room & bar & lounge areas. The self service breakfast was very good with an excellent selection & the dining room was well run despite being very busy.
A couple of days before our visit I phoned reception 4 or 5 times but no one answered, in our opinion if the reception problems were sorted out it would enhance the guests experience.
Good, bad and indifferent

Coylumbridge has excellent facilities, in particular for children however it appears most of the staff missed the session on customer service.
Bar staff were appalling to the point of being rude.
Despite paying for a late check out we received unsolicited calls from 9 onwards as a consequence we out by 10am
Staff seemed grumpy this time except the lass on the swimming pool she was very friendly. Room was full of dust

We have been coming to coylumbridge 2/3 times a year for the past few years but this time it was very disappointing.
From checking in to leaving.
Staff seemed really grumpy except the lass on the swimming pool desk. Room was full of dust, looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. No food available when it said.
Breakfast was good
Ok.not the cleanest.

Nice staff but check in really slow. Found a bin full of soiled nappies in room. Great place for families with young children. Breakfast was good tho. Great area to visit.
Great family resort

Loved this resort and its location. It’s a little bit outside of Aviemore itself so I can understand why it might not suit those without a car but for us, the location was fabulous. Close enough to Aviemore for the shops, restaurants etc but far enough away for some peace and access to the nature trails of Rothiemurchus. Plenty of facilities and activities on site to keep everyone entertained. I wish we’d stayed longer. The only thing I would say is that I think the soft play should be included for guests of the hotel, but it’s only a few pounds so not the end of the world as the facilities were good. We were slightly disappointed that the slide in the pool area wasn’t opened during our session but we still had a great time. Overall, I would definitely visit again.
Location is fantastic great atmosphere!

Lovely Hotel in great location and family friendly

Had a great time here with teenage grandchildren. The room was lovely , we had two double beds large tv, . Good facilities. Swimming pool one for toddlers and another deeper one but these were full to capacity at times so had to queue. I think given the capacity of the hotel they may need another pool .had arcade for kids which was good. Lots of nice walks and not far from Avimore town centre. Easy access to other things to do ie went to Highland wildlife .

Arrived to be told check in is at 3pm……..went back just before 3, there was a very long queue. Took a while.
Overall the hotel- although a bit dated- was good. Be aware there are no lifts so carrying cases up the stairs
Room was clean, we had a family room. Bathroom was clean with modern shower. Breakfast each morning was very busy, only one person meeting and seating people, could have been doing with a few.
Choice was fine, all managed to get something.
Pools were a big asset, also has sauna and jacuzzi. We used them twice with the kids
Kids disco on the Monday night was a plus too
Fun house was ok. Soft play and crazy golf/putting
No healthy options in the dining area there
Quite a few games machines, bowling was out of order and the pottery classes previously there were gone too
Outside options in Adventure area were missing some things that were advertised too- although don’t think it is not the hotel who operates this, pay for each activity
No dry ski-ing, no tubing, no kids bikes. There was a few other things to do and the hotel has a play park area
Overall with kids this is a good hotel to go to
