Arrived early for reservation which was no problem and seated promptly. Gave us the menu and explained our options. We chose the Sunday roast with rump of beef. We chose the dessert option rather than the starter but my chocolate tart was disappointing and wouldn’t gave likes to pay the full price for it. Think the desserts are bought in and not made on the premises. Would use the voucher again but possibly have a starter rather than dessert. Staff very helpful

Very nice experience. Service was perhaps a little slow, but it was busy so happy to make allowance for that.
Well done

Good was delicious. Service and atmosphere was excellent. Best lunch I’ve had in Edinburgh for a while. We had the set lunch menu. Good value

Food was ok, had the fixed lunch menu and I choose the salad which was rather meager, hummus, tomatoes and pitta. The strawberry panacotta with crumbled shortbread was quite a large portion but it was definitely a case of hunt the strawberry! Sadly there was only 1 other customer so literally no atmosphere. Ladies loos are in desperate need of repair, broken or no locks, black toilet seats were all chipped / worn through to white undercoat, definitely felt grubby.
Wouldn't go back

This was a last minute purchase whilst out shopping in Edinburgh and we hadn’t been before. The food and the portion sizes were excellent, as were the choices on the ‘seasonal menu’. They have lost a stars for this review due to their billing. We had two cokes on top of the £50 prepaid voucher and the bill was £18! The cokes were around £10 which is steep, but the rest was a service charge. Whilst I appreciate this is optional, it’s rude to automatically add it to the bill. Also, it was calculated on the original value of the food, when we had bought a voucher (also with fees) for less. I was too embarrassed to ask them to remove the charge but the meal was far from the bargain I was expecting and whilst the service was okay, it wasn’t exceptional.
Lip smacking ideal lunchtime visit

Well presented greeting & service, central table in smart comfortable seating, ideal view of bar & open busy kitchen, informed menu recommendation. We choose poke salad & fish starters plus sea bream mains on Good Friday visit . Top, of the half dozen excellent venues we have enjoyed around the square.

All the waiters were great. Friendly. And went out of their way to be helpful. We went for the set menu, unfortunately what we wanted had ran out, but they offered an alternative. We would definitely go back again, as the food was lovely and the waiters made it a nice experience.

We had 2 courses and a glass of prosecco which was well worth the money.
The sea bream was excellent and the sticky toffee pudding was very good.
Nice ambience and lovely staff.
