Disappointed at what we experienced.

What we saw on the Itison advert, was not what we received, nothing like it at all. The room we were given was in our opinion, "an Itison room", there was no charm, the only window in the room opened to a beer garden, for the next door bar. The wardrobe was something from B & Q, or Ikea. The one chair in the room was old and felt as though it would collapse every time we sat on it, so much so we sat on the bed. The bathroom, well that's another story, it was under the main stairs, heard every foot step when anyone was going up or down. Small step to enter the bathroom, but a narrow step so had to take care every time we entered. The toilet was right at the bottom of the step, with the wash hand basin at your left. The basin has a big crack down the inside, and the tap was loose. When you switched the bathroom on, the internal fan came on and my god was that load, fortunately it could be switched off independently. The only positive was the shower.
It was very nice weather whilst we were there, and our room was very warm, so there was a large fan sitting on the floor, that could be used, which we did, but could not watch the television when it was on, as it was also very, very noisy.
The get up and go breakfast, you had to ask for, which consisted of an apple, cereal bar, croissant and small carton of orange juice there was no alternative offered.
The money we paid was not value for money, in fact I would have been even more disappointed if I'd paid the full price.
What you see on your advert, plus what you view on their website, was nothing compared to what we received or saw.
Our final point is the staff, not very forth coming, did not want to interact with customers.
This was a treat from my wife, for my 70 birthday, one that I will remember, but for all the wrong reasons, sorry to say.
We have purchased many Itison deals, and this one is the only one that has let us down.
I do have pictures that I took.
Not a pleasant stay

I would actually rate this around 2.5 - the location was fantastic, the bed was comfortable, bed linen clean and towels nice and fluffy. Nice coffee making facilities, and nice bottle of wine on arrival….
However this hotel was looking very tired and in need of TLC - aesthetically it would have been nice I’m sure had it been maintained.
The carpet was very dirty and bobbled both in the room and stairwell. There was some dirt and a feather on stair when we arrived and I was still there when we left 2 days later. There was a sharp plastic shard which was left on carpet that my wife stood on and hurt her foot. The riser rail in shower was broken. The window frames were rotten. The walls both in stairwell and room were very grubby and covered in marks. The easy chair in the room was covered in stains. This was in no way 4 star luxury as advertised, it felt dirty and neglected.
I don’t like to put down small businesses online and I did review privately a few days ago on their own feedback form but with no response.
Lovely stay, would happily recommend.

We stayed at The JC 8th June for a 3 night stay. It’s a perfect location for discovering the city and it’s truly quaint for an authentic experience. We didn’t have much interaction with the staff but our room was very comfortable and we got the impression staff were interested in accommodating any requests.
Lovely location. The room was nice everything you needed was there.
