Peaceful hotel with an amazing view

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel once again . Lovely view from our room . Very good breakfast both mornings plenty of choice . Plenty of tea and coffee in our room . The evening meal of fish and chips was truly uneatable , warm chips , fish was raw in middle , no veg on plate , very disappointed that we went to another restaurant for Monday nights dinner . Staff very friendly and helpful .

Lovely hotel in a great location, with a bit of a hike. Room was clean and comfortable. Provisions in the room were limited, no complimentary water, biscuits. Staff were great, polite, attentive and professional. Food was good, venison was delicious, unfortunately partners fish and chips was poor (small with thick greasy batter), despite this would definitely recommend.

It’s a nice hotel, very prominent on arrival on the ferry. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
If taking a car, there’s not too many parking places so you either climb a hill or 90 steps if you have to leave your car on the main road.
The rooms are comfortable but bathrooms can do with a bit of upgrade.

The once very grand hotel is a bit tired in the public areas however our bedroom was more modern and very comfortable. The views from the balcony surrounding the ground floor is a delightful spot for a drink. We had dinner and the selection was very good with specials. We both had very tasty starters and main courses at excellent value. Breakfast is a buffet with a great fresh fruit salad and hot food topped up. Different eggs can be cooked to order. The staff were very helpful. An easy short walk into the town centre.

Comfortable, clean room with partial sea view. Enjoyed evening drinks on the Victorian terrace overlooking the stunning bay. Breakfast was plentiful and service was friendly. Loved hearing the history of the Hotel. Great walks nearby.

We felt like second class guests. On arrival we were given a room possibly the furthest away from reception with a view of a sloping roof. I asked if we could be moved and jockingly asked do itison guests get the worst rooms. I was surprised when the receptionist said yes. I paid for an upgrade, the upgrade was filthy. The carpet was covered in what looked like curry sauce, this is based on the fact that I found the fork in the corner under the dressing table. There was no facilities in the hotel before 15.00 hours. If you wanted a coffee there was Nescafe sachets available. I'm not sure if they changed the chef out on but Fridays breakfast and evening meal was far better than the Thursdays. On check out I asked for a breakdown of my bill to make sure the £50 allowance had been taken off, but was told its anitison deal you don't get one. As I was rushing to catch the ferry, it was not worth the fight. My biggest concern was rather frightening. The fire alarm went off at 07.30am having worked offshore my training kicked in. We quickly got dressed followed the signage to the muster point and waited. No one turned up to tell us what was happening was it safe to return. We eventually went back to the reception and asked what was happening and was told there had been an issue with the toaster. I inquired why no staff member attended the muster station, and was told it was the toaster. Not an issue. Bottom line we will not return, and are amazed Bespoke hotels are allowing this to happen.
