Service in Restaurant very poor. Hotel itself very tired

Hotel beautiful sitting beside the canal with beautiful countryside around. Nice restaurant looking out over the canal to the hills beyond, and the food and service is excellent.
Still a bit of money needs to be spent on the rooms , as they let it down.

The staff, food and hotel was excellent.
Our room and the swimming pool were quite dated, decor wise, but other than that, everything about our stay was very enjoyable - so much so, we're heading back again in December to visit the Christmas market ❤️

Nice dining room with full width conservatory with great view of canal and towpath and fields beyond. Dinner was very good and breakfast ok when you knew to avoid the sausages, black pudding and hash browns of which were terrible. Bedroom was needing refreshment and bathroom needs replaced. Nice lounge and outside area to enjoy refreshments. Plenty parking.

Lovely hotel. Good food
And staff very friendly. Walked into Skipton town approximately 1 mile on canal path. We had a warm day but enjoyed the trail Lovely breakfast and dinner

Whilst the bedding was clean there was a general feeling of uncleanliness about the room. We had two rooms and both had headboards in need of replacement as the imitation leather was peeling off and padding visible. The shower cubicle also needed a good clean.
We were on the floor level where we could smell unpleasant odours from the kitchen which seemed to lack adequate ventilation and the odours were coming into the very hot and stuffy corridors.

Really enjoyed our stay. Paid a small supplement for a canal view, which was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and clean. Food was tasty and decent portions.
Only thing we didn't like was the discretionary service charge which was added without our consent. Don't mind leaving a tip, but it was 10% of the total, when we already had a £60 dinner allowance.
However, this would not stop us from staying again.
Lovely walk along the towpath to Skipton.

First visit to this hotel and lots of positives like the location, evening meal. But a bit too far out of town than we'd expected, service was slow in the bar especially, bar prices were phenomenal and rooms were definitely three star.
Having said that the deal itself was probably worth the money overall.
