It was what we expected for the price we paid. Understand that it relays heavily on vaulunteers just a shame that Scottish heritage can’t invest in this place it’s something of and experience.

It was not nearly as authentic as expected. I assume it was on the site of a genuine village, but really did not see anything to convince me of that. The fact that it had been used as a film set for Outlander summed it up. The magnificent scenery and countryside walks saved the day!

Yes very interesting and in beautiful area. Enjoyed the venue which has such potential for weddings, fairs etc etc.

Its a charming set up but really would benefit from people dressed up enacting that time period. Its smaller than we thought it would be, more additions would be welcome. The hunt for the kids was a good idea to keep them busy. The shop stocking drinks was useful.

We enjoyed our visit to the village and our granddaughters made a great effort to gather the information needed for the quiz sheet. ..Great idea !
It was a bit wet and windy so at the end we ordered 4 hot chocolates. The guy was very helpful but the drinks were awful, £12 wasted, we couldn't drink them. 3

Friendly welcoming volunteers, happy to explain the history of the village, sources of the exhibits etc and diary of planned special events. Very interesting to view village layout and have the experience of being in the various buildings eg the jail and the great hall. Very good that it's not too commercialised and would not hesitate to recommend.

Although we were repeatedly informed that it was charity funded and a work in progress, we found it to be a a collection of dilapidated buildings and, apart from the info at each building, appeared meaningless. The very little structural significance to the whole village required a lot of imagination.

Very run down Not looked after.
Rather run down and unkept! It could be amazing but unfortunately very poor!
