An indulgent couple of days

A beautiful hotel in a good location. We stayed for 2 nights and ate in The Rise Restaurant on both evenings. The hotel's proximity to the railway station and the wall made it very easy to find and within easy walking distance. York is quite a compact city so we were able to visit all places of interest on foot. We were given a map of the city, contained within the holder for our room cards, on arrival. This was a nice touch. Food in the restaurant was good and varied and service, both at dinner and breakfast , was excellent and always with a smile. The bedroom was big and well equipped. Our only complaint was that there was no heated towel rail in the bathroom so towels used after showering on day 1 were still damp by the second morning. Thankfully it was quite cool on the days we spent walking around in York so evening showers were not required.
This was intended to be an indulgent few days away and I'm pleased to say that the Grand York provided that for us.

From initial check-in to departure everything was top drawer. Even though we had only booked a classic room it was very modern, clean and comfortable. The restaurant for breakfast, although very busy, was very good with an excellent choice of well cooked food.

Only five minutes walk from the train station and city centre. Luxury hotel which felt Grand.

We love staying here and have visited a few times. However, this year they’ve started charging for the use of the spa and we weren’t prepared to pay £180 for the two of us for 2 visits. Really disappointed.
Excellent customer service and food is excellent in the restaurant.
Birthday treat

Just had a lovely over night stay to celebrate a special birthday. From arrival until we left all of the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious and the birthday card & chocs were a lovely touch. Lots of choice at breakfast and food quality was high & nicely presented. I would definitely recommend this hotel for its great location and staff that ensure your visit is a great experience.

We bought a voucher for our daughter and her partner. They were so impressed with the hotel and especially the staff.
I emailed the Grand to confirm that they had gluten free options at breakfast. Suffice to say, the selection available was perfect .
