Needs finishing touches to complete the rooms and breakfast
Reviewed on
Rooms were adequate but mattress too firm and shower head position fixed at an impractical angle.
Shower plinth warped and could do with having a bit money spent on in general to sort out. Bedroom curtains not completely blocking out light and draught coming from window frame.
Self service area at breakfast could do with an upgraded toaster. Dinner menu a bit limited and don't think the Scottish/Indian "fusion" works, very disappointing.
On the plus side, Reception staff very welcoming and helpful.
Nice wee hotel for a visit to Dunkeld, but needs a bit of extra money to upgrade the bedrooms and menu needs to be ditched, sorry.
Would only return to see Dunkeld again.
Lovely break

Loved Dunkeld, but really disappointed on how rundown this hotel was. On arrival we had to dodge the deep pot holes in the car park, we checked in and felt the hotel was cold, and soon discovered that there was no heating on in the main corridors, and it had several broken windows. Again no heating on in the room, but had an electric wall heater. No hot water to shower before dinner, and again in the morning. We had booked 2 nights, but left after the first night. Would think twice before booking a stay again via itison.
It was like staying at ‘Faulty Towers’

Hot water would be a start!
Honesty when if not before checking in that you didn’t have hot water ( and you hadn’t had it for 2 days prior to our visit) would have been good.
A toaster at breakfast that a slice of bread can fully fit in to would be an improvement. And a chef that has pride in what he puts out would be essentially. Sending out burnt muffins with poached eggs is a disgrace!!!
Very disappointing despite adjusting my expectations based on previous reviews

Unfortunately our stay at the Royal Dunkers was marred by the lack of hot water for the duration of our two night stay .
The hotel boasts of its eco friendly credentials with its new bio mass boiler this however is unable to supply hot water for washing or showers .
Staff were in short supply but helpful when available. Only one waiter serving breakfast in the morning who also bore the brunt of residents concerns about water supply . On our last morning in the absence of any reception staff or management , waitress Sonia gave us email contact details for Melville hotels head office in Glasgow to register our complaint .
We did enjoy a very nice curry on or first night (£15 per head dinner allowance ) and on the second night there was an impromptu music event in the bar courtesy of some residents who were staying for a local music festival .
Breakfast was mediocre with uncooked black pudding and haggis . One domestic two slice toaster for the whole hotel and bread served in its plastic bag as purchased . .
Dunkeld is a beautiful town with lots to do in the surrounding area with a good supply of coffee shops and bakers and other places to eat .
We will certainly return but most definitely not to this hotel or any other Melville hotel . A week later we are still awaiting a response to our email seeking compensation for the lack of basic provision of hot water during our stay .
During our stay We did raise our concerns with staff who informed us that an engineer had been called . There was no member of staff present who was able to take responsibility or offer an explanation for the situation
The Hotel is in need of a makeover. It is very tired. We only had two very small bath towels and no hand towels. W
