Everything was good and the staff were very friendly. Bedroom was spotless with lovely view of ferries coming and going.
I messed them about with dates but they were very accommodating

No one mentioned at the time of booking that there would be no food available in the hotel on a Monday. If we’d known this we would have picked a different day, very disappointed.

Although the room (room 5) was large and clean, the mattress on the bed was soft and uncomfortable so a very poor night sleep. The toilet in the bathroom moved as it was not properly fixed to the floor. Towels were ragged and thin so should be replaced. The shower was the only source of hot water as there was none from the hot tap in the sink. Breakfast was okay and staff were courteous. The ladies toilet downstairs was out of order.

Thought I had booked The Esplanade within walking distance of the town centre.

It is a very old hotel and needs a bit of TLC but the rooms were very clean and comfortable and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Room was comfortable, water power in wash-hand basin was poor and no hot water from either tap.
No chef for the advertised restaurant, whoever cooked breakfast needs some cookery lessons. Various guests were given different reasons for the lack of chef!
The hotel is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues, there are about 10 steps from the car park to the hotel, no ramp. There are more steps into the hotel and 20-30 steps inside to reach the bedrooms, no lift!
The reception was rarely manned, a notice with a phone number to call sat on the desk most of the time and it appeared that there was no night porter.
The hotel was very handy for the ferry, but a distance from anything else and various areas looked like a building site.
Was the hotel checked by Itison before adding it to the getaways list?
I wish the couple, who appear to own the hotel, all the best in returning the hotel to what it could be, but they have many lessons to learn and work to do before that can happen as well as a large amount of cash to invest in the property.

We arrived at hotel last Sunday and made very welcome. The room was overlooking Western Ferries so we had a good view. Goo breakfasts in the morning beforenour drive back to Glasgow. The reason I wouldn't go bac is there is Dunoon is very Quiet and very few restaurants.

As long as you keep your expectations within the price range offered you won't be disappointed.
