Poor communication

This deal was great priced.
The hotel didnt live up to our expectations.
They advertise as dog friendly but youre asked to leave via the back door and sit in an area suitable for dogs.
We just left our dog in the car.
The rooms are cold despite an additional heater.
Bar prices were good.
Breakfast was good but the powdered scrambled egg was awful.
We arrived to find the kitchen was closed. They said it was being refubished but since said they had a gas issue, this wasnt said to any guests checking in. We had £30 to use against food but instead we used it to fund our dog staying, this was debated by the manager but he eventually agreed.
We wouldnt return.
Awful

Having stayed at The Craiglynn numerous times over the past 10+ years I can only say that Faulty Towers would have been better!!!
The hotel was freezing no heating or fires on in reception. On entrance to the hotel and restaurant the horrendous odur of sewage was horrendous and this lasted the whole weekend and travelled through the hotel.
The restaurant wasn't opened on Sunday evening.
The hotel should have been opened to receive guests.
Very disappointing

We spent our honeymoon here 59 years ago. We didn't expect the beautiful old hotel it used to be, much time having passed; however, we did not expect to find such a change.
Good points: Bar and waiting staff very friendly and helpful. Full marks to them!
They did seem to be doing several jobs at once.
Not so good: No welcoming fire lit in the large lounge or bar area.
Not a particularly friendly welcome when we arrived. Polite but cool.
Poor points: The bar had a limited menu and, quite rightly, we had to eat in there as our dog was with us. My husband had a steak on the first night which was inedible it was so tough and my chicken steak the next night was very dry and tough.
Unacceptable: The room we were given at first had a very uncomfortable bed as you could feel and see every spring of the mattress. The towel rail over the bath was hanging off and the shower curtain was like something you would see in poor student accommodation. On entering the bathroom we noticed that the toilet had not been flushed.
We wondered if this was because we were on a 'deal'; however, when we politely made our complaint, I did ask if this was the case and was assured not. No real apology was given although we were told we could move rooms. We did this with no assistance from any staff. It was as if the gentleman at the desk did not really care.
We were compensated to a degree when we checked out, as we were not charged more than our £30 food and drink voucher, although we had spent above that.
It could have been a lovely break (even given some of the downsides) if we had felt more welcome. We felt sorry for the waiting and bar staff who were really doing their best and would not like them to feel responsible in any way for poor management.

Staff and waiters were very helpful and professional. The young man at Bar was extremely good.
In need of some TLC.

Last there 50 years ago for our honeymoon. The public areas were freshly presented and breakfast was excellent. The bedrooms could do with modernisation.
Pleasant and relaxing

To be honest we were pretty disappointed with the hotel. We have stayed in the hotel before and although it creaked we enjoyed the experience. Not the case this time, reception didn't appear to know what they were doing. The water pressure in the room was very low and you couldn't have a shower, running a bath took the best part of an hour and so was tepid when filled. The food on our previous was good, this time it was basic pub food, heated rather than cooked.
Lovely old hotel but new 12.5 % service charge

We always enjoy staying at the Craiglynne Hotel. It’s a lovely old building with great lounge are and open aspect to the sometimes something can be a bit rickety but for us just part of the character of the place. Staff are also very pleasant and helpful. Food is generally good.
This time though we were disappointed that the manager at the Craiglynne has decided to apply a 12.5% service charge to food/drink consumed in the hotel - very small print at the foot of the menu. I strongly object to this. Disappointing.

Had a lovely 2 night break at the Craiglynne Hotel.
The staff were very welcoming. Our room had been newly decorated and was clean and comfortable.
