Nothing Special
Reviewed on
Was underwhelmed, nothing special. The tea was tasteless,, no teaspoons provided. Finger sandwiches fresh, but nothing special. Scones ok, was given dessert spoons to get jam & cream out of narrow necked glass jars, which was impossible. The three cakes were the best of the tea. First time I haven't asked for a doggy bag when out for afternoon tea. Staff helpful and friendly.

Disappointing afternoon tea

The place itself is gorgeous with beautiful views and staff were friendly. However the afternoon tea itself was such a disappointment. No choice in the sandwiches and two were egg which we don't like. The others weren't great. The scones were toasted and cold - this suggests they weren't freshly made. I think a fresh scone is a basic. The cakes weren't a good variety - chocolate éclair, frangipane tasty and carrot cake. Not to our taste. No savoury bits which most teas now offer. I bought this for a friend. And also another as a gift, so I didn't mention anything on the day as I didn't want to spoil things, but I definitely wouldn't have the tea again or recommend.

Booking was very easy, beautiful day views from the resteraunt were beautiful. Extra tea was no problem, a couple of the cakes were not to my taste but that was a minor detail. All in all a great day out.

Arrived and seated quickly , beautiful surroundings.
Then left over 20 mins , had to attract attention to order drinks . Finally got drinks .
Left again , young girl eventually came asking for vouchers .
Two of party of 4 are gluten free , the 1st tea stand came out , the girl described the items thankfully as the scones she mentioned were like thin shortbread.
Four finger sandwiches for two !
No cakes only two pudding each , one tapioca, tried but both found it unpleasant. The other pudding was a better tasting.
The tea stand was lovely but compared to the other it stand , I felt very uncomfortable eating it .
Service was extremely lacking, don’t offer gluten free, that was embarrassing!
We all ended up going somewhere else for food.
Think that says enough.

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea at The Canny Crow, Dundonald Links. Sandwiches were lovely, nice soft bread with tasty fillings, the scones and cakes were delicious, they clearly have a very good pastry chef.
Excellent afternoon tea, very attentive staff.
