Frequently use Itison offers & give good reviews when deserved but sadly MacKays on the Mile comes out bottom! My son & I enjoyed different starters but both main courses were poor! Mac cheese in a thin sauce ? No! Nice garlic bread but cool. Of course could have requested it b heated but was totally disinterested! My son’s fish was not fresh - undoubtedly frozen! More than 1/2 was left on plate. This was poorest Itison lunch. The service was very pleasant.

Beautiful surroundings, excellent food and service. A thoroughly enjoyable breakfast at very reasonable prices. Views of Carlton Hill and The Royal Mile added to our enjoyment. We’re looking forward to trying the lunch and dinner menu.

We had booked a lunchtime table for four. On arrival, we were taken to our table by a very friendly server. The food arrived quickly and we all thought it was very tasty and great value for money. We all said we would be back and our friends, who had not been before, are going to recommend it to their friends. A very enjoyable experience.

Really enjoyed my breakfast at MacKays. Such a warm environment on such a cold day . The quality of the food was absolutely incredible. Real hot food . MacKays is very clean and tidy . The waiter was very professional and something you don’t see often happy to do his job . Had to tip the chap as he was so good .
Thank you for a lovely breakfast and I will be visiting again , I have passed on the recommendation to family and friends.

We booked a voucher for breakfast for 2 with tea or coffee for £18. It was an amazing deal as most places on the Royal Mile are charging £14 per person for full Scottish breakfast. The quality of the food was fantastic and both of us said probably best breakfast we have ever had. Definitely recommend this place and would go back to sample other food options
