Would go back to the restaurant for the views but not stay in hotel again

The restaurant food was bland. Just okay. The view, of course, was excellent, and the wait staff were all very nice though.
Our room was on the 6th (top) floor and had a great view (magnificent wall to ceiling windows) of the motorway leading on to the bridge. Watching the traffic was more mesmerizing than I ever would have imagined it to be. It was a big room, with a big mostly comfy bed and pillows. Sadly, that was about the only really good thing about it.
Firstly, there was a creaky noise that we couldn't quite pin down. It was either something on the roof above us or in the air ducts, again, above us. It was definitely coming from above, somewhere. It was loudest when the wind was really blowing, as evidenced by the rain beating on the windows. It sounded like sitting in a treehouse in a mild hurricane. It wasn't quite bad enough to keep us awake - but it was still disturbing. Secondly, the tv picture quality was messed up. We tried to adjust it via the settings (it was apparent previous users had tried as well) but in the end, had to just turn it off. Lastly, and the absolute worst, was the sewage stench coming up out of the shower drain. It was bad. Of course we didn't really notice it until way after dinner because the bathroom door was shut so rather than pack up and try to get a different room we just put up with it. No doubt the sewage plant next door had something to do with the smell but no one should ever have to smell that inside their room! It was bad.
It was very good

Start if with positive, room was great, told we would have £25 to spend in restaurant if we spent more we would have to pay difference which was absolutely fine, weren't allowed to choose from regular menu had a separate one. Then they tried to charge us for prosecco.
Unfortunately my husband got food poisoning from breakfast. Complained still waiting to hear back.

I cannot think of anything the Doubletree by Hilton - Queensferry Crossing could improve on. The staff were all excellent and made sure we were well looked after during our stay.
