Location great but value poor. When booking I said our party would be using an Itison voucher
and on arrival our table was laid with large lunch menús. However, these were removed and replaced with diminutive ones, immediately reducing expectations and leaving us feeling like 2nd class diners. There was a very limited choice.
We chose the lamb. The portion served up was laughable: a starter sized plateful with only 2" square inches of tough lamb.
The dessert was nice though.
Drinks (as expected for central Edinburgh) were expensive. The cost of the voucher was deducted from the bill but service was included and charged on the whole amount. Not an experience that would entice any of us to return. We left disappointed and still hungry.

The restricted menu has 3 starters and 3 mains, sweet is extra. We had white onion soup, very nice with Italian pear and walnuts in it. Mains were basic, fish ‘n chips or lamb. There was a veggie option I don’t recall. I did think it was great value. Soup plus half a battered haddock and chunky chips with mushy peas. All the pubs do that.
I think they need to do better for me to return.

This was our fourth visit to Cannonball and lived up to expectations. I could have chosen anything on the menu and been confident it would be delicious - great flavour combinations and beautifully presented. And despite being extremely busy, staff were attentive and helpful. Very difficult to think of anything to improve.

It was our first visit and also it was my birthday.
The staff snd service was first class.
The food was excellent and I was spoiled as they provide a birthday celebration desert. I will recommend to all my friends.

Itison deal well worth money, disappointing that 5th guest had to have different menu. Food lovely and good sized portions. Nice ambience. Staff very helpful and friendly.
