Beautiful building and gorgeous gardens. Nice room and breakfast was good. However, despite being told that meals would be served, there were two choices, meat and chicken, neither of which I can eat so we had to drive to Montrose to get a meal. The bar is tiny and shut at 9pm, so we were in our room playing scrabble at 9.20. Not at all what we expected.
Room was lovely, comfy bed and lots of choice for breakfast

In beautiful gardens and minutes walk to the beach. Very dog friendly. Large bedroom with a huge bathroom. Bathroom has a freestanding bath and a double walk in shower, a chaise longue at the window and a toilet behind a door.
Fish and chips at night was very good. There is a limited menu as really a B&B.
The 2nd night food was not so good but overall a wonderfully relaxing stay.
Lovely stay. Staff are amazing. Great atmosphere. Decor needs work.

Our stay at Lunan House was really enjoyable. Beautiful location, staff were amazing, notably Katie, John and also the girls serving at breakfast.
The decor isn't great. Badly finished and dated. Gaps around the door frame where plaster was missing. Broken windows. Uncomfortable sofas. Could really do with a complete overhaul. Such a shame as used to be a beautiful hotel.
Booked a first floor room but was allocated a ground floor room at the back of the property which was really dark and hot and one of the two windows couldn't be opened at all. The other one had to be propped open with a towel as didn't stay open so very little air. Linen was clean though and the shower was lovely. The toiletries provided were beautiful.
Every time someone came thru the doors beside our room it slammed shut behind them. The bedroom floor had not been properly cleaned.
The bar area was lovely and we met some great people and a gorgeous dog on holiday there. That was the highlight of our two night stay to be honest chatting with the other guests. Katie was brilliant and made us all chips with cheese which was most welcome ! She could not have done more to make us feel anymore at home. There needs to be a vegetarian option for dinner to be added to the menu as several guests were disappointed they couldn't eat there even if it was something simple like a veggie burger and chips or macaroni cheese.
Breakfast was outstanding. Great service and lots of choice. Windows opened by our waitress when she noticed it became too hot in the dining room which was much appreciated. Attentive and efficient staff.
For the money we paid, we can't complain about the location, the breakfast or the service and the staff are an absolute credit to the owner. The gardens are stunning. Thank you to John who was cleaning the windows for telling us all about the history of the building, the grounds and the lovely place to sit in the Herb garden. Idyllic setting. Close to the beach but because of the dunes, the access is not ideal for anyone with mobility issues.
If we came back would want a better room with better facilities but to be honest this place is all about the staff !
Lovely relaxing stay.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the hotel. We had a very friendly welcome from both the owner and the staff. There was no chef available during our visit but we had a lovely experience at the beach bar with food served until 5pm. The staff there went over and above to make sure you were served quickly and kept checking to see if everything was okay and if we needed anything else. Couldn’t fault them at all. The server in the breakfast lounge on Monday made sure that the coffee maker was loaded up with decaffeinated coffee beans which meant I could have a lovely cappuccino in stead of a cup of boiled water with instant powder. Very much appreciated. The only areas we felt could be improved upon were:
1) the very squeaky toilet door in room 2 - which my hubby sorted with WD40!
2) the fire exit doors outside room 2 definitely need to be looked at as almost every time a member of staff went through them, the door dropped with a very large bang. Should be easily remedied by adjusting the door closer (L-valve).
We had a very comfortable couple of nights here and would definitely recommend to friends.

This was a pleasant find - a nice old house in beautiful grounds. We had a large room and a good, new bathroom. The breakfast had plenty of choice and the staff were very friendly.
