Lovely setting but for the first time food was a disappointment

Gorgeous interior, pleasant waiter (son of owner), decent choice for Itison offer menu.
My arancini starter was delicious, my companion’s prosciutto and pear salad nice. We both ordered chicken Milanese mains - dry, hard on the edges, two quartered new potatoes and two blobs of satay sauce??! With the whole thing sat on a pile of bitter undressed lettuce. A real let down. Desert - panna cotta which I’ve had before and was amazing with raspberry coulis - this time the mushy grainy tasteless blob came with a halved bitter plumb in a spoon of tasteless water. Completely inedible. The new waiter didn’t ask about our abandoned deserts, just cleared the table. Bill came- charged for already paid for food. £86 for two drinks each, cup of tea and £5 heavy, dense focaccia. ( I also left my limoncello - this is a light, spritz long drink which came a small wine glass packed with ice which I removed leaving 2cm - if that - of actual drink which did not have balanced measures of soda and Prosecco. A total waste of £14!).
Excellent food and great staff

Been a regular visitor to Contini for years now. The food is always exquisite, the chicken millanaise was fantastic on our recent visit and the surroundings are spectacular. We'll be back soon.

The venue is amazing food even better !
Felt the welcome from the server could have been warmer.
I notified venue in advance of the it is on codes but they still had different menus on the table .
Server was a bit off when collecting these in however did eventually give the service that we expected.
When you’ve paid for a voucher you shouldn’t feel any different unfortunately in the beginning we did .
Definitely return as the food was amazing well done! great value .

Prompt service and a few questions were expertly answered. All 3 courses came with a suitable timeframe in between. Food was excellent and potion size just right. A particular mention for dessert which was exceptional.

We were there for the March special. So a short menu but all the best favourites. The prosciutto and mozzarella started were cracking, and the cod and Milanese main courses tender and full of flavour. Equally the desserts. One waitress was very good and helpful and one fell short. Standing there and asking “Who were the mozzarella’s ?” and again “Who were the cod’s?“ is unprofessional and rude at this level with only a party of four and two different dishes between us. Never happened to us before at this usually excellent restaurant
One of our best meals in a long time!!

This was our first visit to Contini. The meal was excellent, each dish perfectly prepared. The service was also excellent, the staff friendly, attentive and polite. The surroundings and decor were very impressive, the restaurant being a large former bank. All in, we will be back next time we are staying in Edinburgh.
