The meat could be a bit more tender but still enjoyable and could do with a bit more roast tatties but all over I would still recommend without a doubt
Excellent food, service, choice and value

Very, very good Itison deal with lots of choice and great value. There are a few menu items at a supplement, understandably!
Our food was very nicely cooked and presented with good size portions.
We both thoroughly enjoyed the Cullen Skink as it’s not something we’d have every day.
My pork tomahawk was delicious and perfectly cooked and my wife’s crayfish roll had lots of creamy filling.
The staff were a credit from the bar to the concierge to the restaurant staff.
Emma looked after us enthusiastically and deserves a special mention!

Delicious food as usual

Our third visit and once again happy with the surroundings, service and food.
Only downside is that we always go at 5pm when they open and it lacks atmosphere as there are usually no other diners at that early time.
Lovely food and a great ambience

Lovely restaurant in Marriot Hotel. Food was great, we both had Cullen Skink to start with and Prawn Linguine as mains.
There was a 15% service charge added on which is shared between all staff. However we opted to
have it removed and tipped our Server directly as she was fantastic.
Overpriced and underwhelming and lacked seasoning

Hi, we were through to Edinburgh for a mid-week break and decided to purchase an Itison voucher, so we could experience 1802 and save a few £s.
On arrival, we were greeted pleasantly and shown to a pleasant table, where we enjoyed the layout of the restaurant and the decor was lovely.
We elected to have one starter, 2 mains and a shared sweet to finish.
The starter was a chicken thigh in a honey and whisky glaze with neeps. Whilst the chicken thigh itself was tasty the neeps were under-seasoned, bland and were almost cold on the plate, which didn't make for a pleasant experience. (I would have expected 1802 to have served the starter on a "warmed" plate, but the plate was cold, which took any heat out of the neeps.)
For the mains, my wife had the salmon, which was pleasant and the lemon & caper butter sauce was lovely too. However the accompaniments were 3 slightly squashed new potatoes and a small piece of tenderstem broccoli, Again these were under-seasoned and at £25.50 was a bit pricey.
I had the Prawn, Crab and Chilli linguine in a garlic & cream sauce and there was a very small amount of crab and no chilli visible and the sauce was overly-reduced and dried up on the linguine making it quite stodgy, instead of luxurious and once again, the meal had very little seasoning.
To finish we shared a home-baked (dry) stick toffee pudding, and although it had a nice sticky sauce and a small scoop of ice cream, the dryness of the cake wasn't too great.
There were some good points but I wouldn't be in a rush to return.
Great ambiance.

Warm welcome. Staff fab. Had beef which was delicious. Food was hot and served well. Jug of hot gravy with beef was ideal. Haggis Bon Bon’s to start and Bread and Butter pud to end.
Only criticism was the ambience felt lacking. Bit chilly and lighting could be warmer. Add some plants maybe?
