Disappointing

Expected better against the previous experiences staying at The Boat Inn a few years back.
Mainly bed, hardly slept at all- bed to high, mattress to hard and pillows flat and uncomfortable.
Menu very limited- both of us had chicken burger for main course.- bun very soggy top and bottom with the fillings- chicken, tomato & maple sce.
Breakfast- poached eggs served half cooked, bacon griddled and too salty, sausage 3/4 cooked, black pudding/haggis very dry.
Was on a tight schedule of work that morning so time was against us waiting for replacements.
I’m afraid we won’t be returning for a bed & breakfast as even with a Itison deal you expect better than this.

We stayed a couple of nights here and it was lovely. The room was nice and contemporary, clean and nice place to relax. Also enjoyed free standing bath in our room. Pub grub was top quality and really nice place to eat and have a drink. Was even warm enough in March to sit outside.
Consistently great, delicious food and cheerful staff.

We have gone back year after year to the Boat Inn, each trip has been the same great quality. From the check in with cheerful and helpful staff, to the consistently great quality food and presentation. We love the sounding environment too with great walks in every direction. Clean and comfortable accommodation also makes for a great sleep. We will be back I’m sure very soon.
Wonderful mid-week break at The Boat Inn!

We stayed in a fabulous room in The Boat House, directly behind the Inn. Stylish, peaceful, spacious and comfortable. Enjoyed hearty breakfasts and evening meals whilst exploring the surrounding area.
Will definitely return!
Relaxing Rural Break

We had a lovely stay with our dog at the Boat Inn Aboyne. Excellent value for money and we had a wonderfully spacious room overlooking the river. We had dinner in the bar ( with our dog ) which we enjoyed as there was an open log fire to keep everyone cosy. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and local products.
Great weekend in excellent accommodation with good food

We have stayed here before and returned because we really enjoyed our last visit . We were not disappointed. We stayed with our one year old golden retriever who was also made very welcome with treats and towels already in the room for her ..
We had a large ground floor room with great access to the front door and grass area .
Breakfast and dinner were good quality and well presented . Excellent range of beers and cocktails at the bar .
Staff were friendly and helpful and very attentive even when busy .
My only observation would be in relation to furniture. A very minor detail but worth mentioning . Beautiful small wooden tables at the bedside but way too small and low to serve as bedside tables .
Tea and ground coffee provision was good and extra milk available however only one small cafetière provided . A larger cafetière would allow for 2 cups to be made at the same time .
We certainly plan to return as the hotel is well situated for local walks along the river and into the town . Also an excellent base for touring local area .
I loved it and plan to return.

We had a wonderful room. The staff are always very pleasant. Breakfast was nice and the evening meals were lovely. Really like the fact that you can now have half portions of some meals. Enjoyed coffee and cake instead of a dessert and that was a nice change too. It is so central for day trips to Braemar/Ballater/Tarland etc.
Pleasant enjoyable stay.
