A Warm Welcome in the Highlands

We had a fabulous stay at The Highland Hotel. It overlooks the spa town and steeped in history and Victorian architecture. Our dinner was delicious and the welcome drinks were appreciated. Our room was cozy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. During our stay we were treated like VIPs by all the staff. It was such a lovely experience

Lovely old highland hotel , staff were great , hotel meals were fine , place is getting some modernisation at the moment , rooms were a bit tired , but comfortable , we didn’t pay much for our stay so you get what you pay for .
Shower curtain was manky , tiles could have been done with a bleach or a deep clean , otherwise wasn’t bad .
We arrived but did not stay, and lost the cost of 2 nights B&B plus dinner. The room we were given was shockingly poor,

Nothing was as expected. The standard double as advertised on Itison bore no similarity to the dingy double room they offered. We offered to pay to upgrade but they said they had no alternative. The hotel was unpleasantly dated, had no grounds or garden. But the room offered was not one we would stay in, and had a very small unpleasant shower room

On arrival about an hour early the Receptionist said our room was ready so we got in. The room was very clean and tidy. The. radiator was working although we didn’t really need it as was lovely weather.
The staff were very helpful from the Receptionist to waitresses in Dining room. The evening meal was excellent including the bottle of wine as part of our deal. Breakfast each morning was also very good with no time to wait. The young waitress Ellie was so nice and also Allan in dining room.

On arrival the outside was very tired - broken render. Got to room. It was nice enough but the TV didnt work. Went to reception, no-one there. Waited 10 mins, still no-one. Back to room then went back down to teception. Moved us rooms. New room ok but toilet was dirty, with poo on the bowl. As I was desparaye to use the loo hubby cleaned it as not confident of staff being available at reception. Breakfast was basic and wrong. Ordered fried egg was given scrambled. Waiting staff not around to correct. Once food was served there was no sign to staff at all. Not asked at checkout if anything amiss. Will not be back as I dont expect to have to clean the loo!

Bought this as present for my son and partner. They both enjoyed their stay there.As he would like to go back it was great.
