Over charged and underwhelmed by food.

Disappointing overall. Venue ordinary. Portions very small particularly Cullen skink which was nothing like anything I had had before. Mains over salted. Only good experience was with service. Staff very friendly and attentive.
Excellent!

1st time visit to The Pompadour. Excellent food & service.
All a bit underwhelming.

A pleasant dining room, but a real lack of any atmosphere, Staff were attentive. While the food was very nice, we found both our starters and main courses to be heavily salted, maybe that’s just our taste.
The drinks menu was extremely limited for any anyone wanting a lager, beer or cider as I was, which was disappointing.
Overall, had more enjoyable meals elsewhere!

The staff were lovely, very attentive & helpful but the food was not as good as we had expected. 😔 the tasting menu was far superior. Had this been our first visit we would not go back.
Superb!

We booked this restaurant as part of my husband’s birthday celebrations.
The restaurant was beautiful.
Both the two female staff present were very pleasant and helpful.
The oysters my husband had were apparently delicious.
The starter of cullen skink was very tasty but the smoked haddock was overcooked.
The main dish was coley on a bed of butterbeans. The coley was nicely cooked, the beans were actually cannellini beans.
The sweet was panna cotta which was overset. We returned it the kitchen. The maitre d’ came to the table and told us he was happy to provide a different dessert and then proceeded to tell us that all chefs are different and all panna cottas are different and that was the recipe that was always used and no one had complained before. I disagreed saying the texture for a panna cotta was wrong, and it was.
The replacement sweets were sticky toffee pudding which was lovely and “1925” knickerbocker glory which was unlike any knickerbocker glory I had before, presumably another of the chef’s own recipes.
The effusive and sarcastic farewell from the maitre d’ did not go unnoticed and was quite unnecessary.
Finally, we were a bit bemused by the birthday card on the table signed, presumably, by the staff but not addressed to my husband, giving the impression it was a generic card which has been used and reused as required.
We have eaten at Haar on a number of occasions and also at Dulse in Edinburgh, but will not return to 1925.
Absolutely fabulous

Excellent restaurant in a beautiful location, service and staff were very good and food was great and well presented.
Bottle of wine was a bit pricey but still enjoyed.
Lovely meal but lacking atmosphere

Lovely meal - expect smallish portions . Only 1 other table taken on a Sunday evening just 11 days before Christmas so place lacked atmosphere . Staff though very attentive .
Drinks are expensive - cheapest bottle wine £45
