Poor choice of rose wine I felt.Starter of salad with beetroot mouse was not aesthetically pleasing and was bland with no taste.This starter needs revised dropped.
Mains were much better.Service and customer care was excellent though I dont agree with an automatic charge for only two guests.Selection of cocktails were exceptional and tasted great.We would return fir drinks but maybe not food.

Had a lovely lunch yesterday at The Citizen. Looking at the sample menu on Itison we thought the menu a bit limited. Don’t let this put you off. We were offered an extensive menu - lots of options. Each of us enjoyed our selection. Rounded off by a delicious coffee and petit four (fudge). Deal included The Gazette cocktail. Great value!
The staff were great. They were attentive and helpful all the time even though restaurant was very busy and quite noisy. This included clearing & cleaning tables and toilets. Security staff outside were on their toes. Alert to dealing with any possible issue with passing public. Well done to The Citizen!

I felt uncomfortable on leaving the restaurant. This feeling only grew worse as the evening wore on.

I was ill after visiting the Citizen. I felt uncomfortable after my main course, mussels, and this feeling only grew and worsened until I got home & vomited ++. It took a few days to recover. I complained to the restraunt, gave them all the info they requested then waited for weeks without any further contact from the restraunt about the outcome. I had to email them again to get a response. They dismissed my complaint but offered me a £40 voucher, half of what I paid. I think they knew I wouldn't accept it because I have no plans to go back there. Shameful way to treat a customer on their 1st and only visit.

We had a lovely lunch at The Citizen, the food was great, nice relaxing atmosphere and the staff were really friendly and attentive.

The starters were enough just to keep us ready for more but not to small to think that we never had anything. The main course arrived, mussels, and I couldn’t finish it. The only downside was that the meat in the mussels was not great.
I will go back!!

First time at the Citizen Restarant. Meal was nice, even better if some vegetables had been added. The restaurant was very busy, great ambience. The Itison voucher as always is money worth spent. I will go back.
