- Once a coaching inn, they re-opened in late 2017 with a drive to celebrate the fantastic produce Cumbria and the UK have to offer
- Head Chef Chris Archer and his team were awarded a Michelin Plate in the Michelin UK & Ireland Guide 2021, and were awarded a Michelin star in April 2023, which has been retained since
- The restaurant offers a seasonal menu featuring produce from around the United Kingdom, as well as from the gardens at nearby Netherby Hall
- In 2019, they were awarded the prestigious César Award for Best Newcomer in the Good Hotel Guide, and have since retained their listing
- Their nine cosy and stylish bedrooms take inspiration from the "Debatable Lands" of England and Scotland, with room names from Border Reiver clans

A thoroughly enjoyable, relaxing experience all round. A warm welcome at reception on arrival. The ensuite bedroom was immaculate and had everything that we could have asked for. The bar and restaurant areas were beautifully decorated and had excellent acoustics. Music was low key. The 8 course tasting menu was well worth the Michelin Star and each course was thoroughly enjoyed by my husband and I. There is a great range of wines to choose from if you don't want the wine pairings option. Breakfast was also thoroughly enjoyable. I highly recommend this as a "great escape" - I felt like I had had a week long holiday after only one night's stay. Thank you to all the Pentonbridge Inn staff.
