The River Café on the Tyne
A firm favourite with North East foodies, as well as a hotspot for passing cruise ship guests, the River Café catches its sensational seafood dishes locally – you may even catch some boats operating right outside the restaurant’s windows! With its dedication to culinary excellence combined with impeccable service standards, it’s no wonder that this charming restaurant has maintained a prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand Award for seven years running!
You and a fellow food lover (or three!) will get to soak up all this gem has to offer with a delicious portion of fish and chips each, served with pea purée and tartar sauce for a classic British treat. Plus, you can opt to include a glass of Prosecco each to add a bit of sparkle to your meal. Cheers!

“Café is the perfect name for this hidden gem in Fish Quay. Mixes casual décor with quality food and didn’t disappoint. Food was delicious, scallops and bream especially divine. Service friendly and attentive. Wine selection good. Ask for a table next to the window if you want to watch the world go by on the Tyne. Will definitely revisit."
"River Café offers an excellent standard of cooking and menu choices plus their new chef is a class act – presentation of dishes is really special. Scores very high marks on value for money too. Mustn’t forget the front of house team of course, who are always friendly, helpful and clearly enjoy doing what they do."
