3rd Visit
Reviewed on
This was our 3rd visit, via Itison vouchers, to this buffet afternoon tea.
We agreed this had been our best experience here, helped by having such a warm welcome from a lovely gentleman on restaurant reception.
The food was fresh and flavoursome and plentiful.
The only disappointment were the scones. They were dry and quite hard.
Other than that, another enjoyable visit.
A lack luster high tea

The entrance host was extremely nice and spoke about the layout and how the all you can eat high tea was meant to work. After this we where pretty much abandoned after taking our seats.
We had paid extra for a cocktail or prosseco but the 6/7 staff on the floor actively hid in the backroom and never once spoke to us until we managed to aprehend one and then that staff member only gave us one drink. This was then resolved after having to go back and ask again.
The food was average in selection and lots of it had become dry after being out for a period of time. You could tell nearly all the food was bought in and only limited to fresh sandwiches.
The tea/coffee was self serve but would of been nice to see this served in a better way with re fills attended too by staff. Again the milk container was abandoned and no milk for 15 minutes until a staff member could be found. Hot water fountain was horrifically slow and could of boiled a kettle quicker. Sparkling water tap was also had no gas.
Overall the whole set up needs a re think especially after the cost of it all and high tea competition in glasgow.
Enjoyed afternoon tea but not the cocktails

Disappointing

Many servers in the restaurant, but sat with dirty plates for some time, had to leave our table and approach a server to inquire about getting our cocktail. Chair was dirty with food marks/stains. Food items overall were satisfactory/poor at times, and missing any kind of luxury feel, not worth the money.

Bought these vouchers then was asked to do 2 months of night shifts. Couldn’t get booked for the Saturdays that I was off so had to give the vouchers to my daughter who went yesterday with her friend.
They were disappointed with the choices, which they described as limited. They also described staff as “not nice” to them. They did not rate the experience overall.
I’m sure the hotel itself is a lovely place but for this particular experience I wouldn’t recommend it
Plenty of choice

There is plenty of choice here at this afternoon tea . Plenty of savouries to choose from , the scones were abit hard and wasn’t sure what flavour the jam was , very perfumed I thought . Good choice of cakes and the tablet and macaroons were scrummy
Excellent value. Choice and selection. Fresh and tasty. Pleasant staff

A bit disappointing

Had to find a waitress to get a drink after bring in 10 mins. Choice was disappointing and loads of plates looked like leftovers. Disappointing choice of filling. Sausage rolls were horrible as though meat was off.Bread was very fresh, scones were delicious. Cake offering was ok.
Won't go again.
I don't think we'll be back

The reception staff were lovely, the bar staff weren't as on top of it as I would have expected (we had to get up more than once to get a member of staff to order drinks and then again for the bill).
The food selection was much more limited than it was previously.
The cocktails we ordered weren't made with the correct ingredients (one listed wasn't even stocked).
Considering we've been multiple times before, we felt a bit let down this time.
