Only a 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely wood panelling downstairs and dining room and bar area have views across the water.

Comfortable surroundings, excellent service, relaxed atmosphere. A "traditional" hotel, in the best possible way.

I was staying for 2 nights and had invited two friends to join us for Dinner. I approached Barry, apparently the Restaurant and Beverage Manager, and asked if no one had requested a particular table, could I reserve it. He refused, and said that if someone else came into the restaurant and wanted it, he “would be obliged to give them it.” I really couldn’t understand his logic, however I suggested that a “Reserved” sign place on the table would solve the problem, - he continued to refuse.
Interestingly (and not surprisingly)he had allocated the table to 3 people, prior to us dining at 7.30pm
I have considerable experience of Dining in Restaurants (many of which have Michelin Stars,) and haven’t encountered a character like him. If he’s going to continue as a “manager”, he requires a lot more training!
Even when we had finished our bottle of wine in the bar, our wives made their way to the table, to be met by Barry who asked if they were part of my party, and followed by “I’ll take you to your table!” No conversation, no comments such as “enjoy your meal etc) He was anything but welcoming!
Having said that, the atmosphere of our experience up to that point was totally changed when a charming young waitress arrived at our table. I think her name was “Sophie” and she was all you would expect and hope for when dining. She was pleasant, efficient and chatty and enhanced our experience. In addition, the food was very good and well presented!

Our bathroom was horrible and we couldn’t regulate the water in the shower. It went from a normal temperature to either freezing cold or scorching hot.

We love this hotel and have returned a number of times. The rooms are basic but very clean. The setting is phenomenal and the gardens lovely. Good food and wholesome. Priced competitively for what it is. Staff service excellent.

The hotel certainly needs a makeover, however the staff and food definitely give it a lift.

Our room had been upgraded and was lovely. There was a sign saying that the water was very hot and this was particularly felt in the shower, with no real difference trying to turn it down but apart from that, great!

Being going to the Glenburn for over 25 years. The hotel has a beautiful location, not far from ferry terminal. The hotel does need a bit of tlc but it doesn't detract the enjoyment we have there. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. Can't wait to go back.
