We had a lovely weekend at the Garth hotel and a lot of things were good about it. It was newly refurbished and the rooms and bathrooms were nicely done up. Bed was comfy and it was great having 2 armchairs in the room as well. Breakfast was good, especially the cooked items. Evening meal could have been better and we wouldn't choose to eat from that menu again. Our other issue was the size of the bath towels which were really small. Grantown is a lovely town and a great base for the cairngorm national park. Loads of lovely scenery, places to go and things to do.

Arrived to find o the two rooms booked, only one had been made for our arrival date. The second was apparently booked for July 2026! Refurbished rooms were clearly accepted without any safety check. Phoned not working, TV broken, in one room bathroom it had full length clear window without ANY curtains or blinds, ie totally exposed when using the toilet never mind the shower. Has to barracde it with cushions to avoid indecent exposure. Card reader broken so had to get cash to check out. Every bar snack on sale was out of date. We were the ONLY residents staying.. ; residents and chef didn’t seem to be able to cook an egg! Previous manager seemed to have been exited so very new managers arrived the day before us. Poor souls!! l Complained to Melville Group Head office. Emails totally ignored. No number for their head office. Called each hotel directly on how to get in touch with their CEO and just palmed off. Total disgrace. PLEASE do not book with any of their hotels.
Arrived on a dark, wet and windy night to a really warm and welcoming stay at The Garth Hotel.

From my initial emails Jason was extremely helpful and when we arrived he was there to greet us with a warm welcome.
The staff were all very attentive and the food was excellent.
Our room was bigger than expected and comfortable.
The hotel is old and there were a few broken panes in one of our windows but the windows had blinds and heavy curtains so wasn't a problem.
We have 2 dogs who were given treats and lovely grounds to walk them around.
