The Portpatrick Hotel provides a comfortable and enjoyable stay with good food on offer. The hotel could definitely do with a wee spruce up but it didn't detract from a peaceful nights sleep. Staff were lovely and helpful at all times. Ideal location to explore the village and as a base for walking further afield.
My only gripe was the parking charges which have now been established. As a guest I would expect parking included. I parked elsewhere to avoid the charge.
The hotel was absolutely fantastic from accommodation to staff.

It was more than we expected and got a lovely room with a view. Food was lovely as were the staff.
The hotel is dated.

I think because we had an itison voucher we had a room that needed updated! Food was excellent. The overall experience could have been better. We sat outside as the weather was beautiful but there was a dirty ashtray that was there from Friday to Sunday. Attention to detail was needed.
Windows screwed shut: no fresh air. onion in the ice cream.

Whilst clean, the rooms are dated and need some attention. Our sea view room had the windows screwed closed and could not open. This was discussed at reception and the alternative offer was to a twin room with no view.
We had dinner on he fist night. A couple of minor errors but the most significant was a piece of red onion in the vanilla ice cream. Ate elsewhere the other two nights.
Average breakfast with very little coice of cereal and no cold selection. Discovered by chance that we could ask for poached eggs as no information was available on non-buffet options.
Comfortable stay with good food and service.

Beautiful setting for hotel overlooking the Harbour.
Room was clean and comfortable albeit a bit tired.
Bathroom was a bit tired and bathroom suite was chipped and stained. There was a shower over the bath which was a bit of a safety hazard as hot water was scalding and it was difficult to get temperature regulated. I would worry for older people or children.
Dinner was great and we both enjoyed it. However breakfast on first day was disappointing. No bacon, no potato scones, no orange juice. We asked a waiter who went to kitchen but there was more than a 5 minute wait.
There was no cheese or cold cuts or fruit salad. Basically if you didn't want a cooked breakfast , you were left with cereal and a pastry.
The waiting staff were all very friendly and helpful but there didn't seem to be anyone in control of the dining room.
It was the same the 2nd morning so we just had cereal as couldn't be bothered waiting.
To be fair, all staff were really helpful and friendly and there was a nice atmosphere in the bar lounge.
Not sure if we'd go back to this hotel unless it upped it's game. However we did have a lovely break.
Very helpful and understanding
